What happening at The Land?

I will be at WDW from March 3-7. I am curious if anyone knows what is going on at The Land Pavillion during this time frame. I understand that the Boat ride "Living with the Land" will be temporarily closed as will The Lion King show in order for the construction of Soarin' to take place. My question is, what about the food court and the Garden Grille?? - will they be open for business or will the entire pavillion be closed down?? Anyone know?

If you have little ones in strollers, keep walking.

Passing by the Land on our last trip around lunch time. We figured, hey lets grab a bite in The Land. Our group had two toddlers and an infant.

We could not bring our sleeping 6 month in with the stroller.

Last week, Land was closed completely; probably still true. Not sure if that will remain through March.

This is the deal with The Land pavillion:

This Spring, probably in time for the 50th Aniversary Celebration, they will be opening Epcot's next E ticket attraction. The name is Soarin' and is based on the very popular attraction found at Disney's California Adventure.

The ride itself has its own huge building that you may notice behind the UK and Canadian Pavillions if you are in Mexico looking across the lake. The new attraction's entrance is inside of The Land pavillion, so it was necessary to close the pavillion for a time so they can construct the opening and do other rehabs. No word on when The Land will reopen. It all depends on how much work they had to do.

I was calling for PS's for our trip in March and was told that Garden Grill will be closed unitl second week in April...

What does Soarin' have to do with The Land, anyways. How does this ride go with The Land? I guess I'm just not sure what the ride is like at California Adventure. Thanks

I'm just as annoyed as you are... as many times as I've been to WDW, I never knew about the ice cream social with the characters which is usually held at the Land from what I've heard. I'll be there 3/5-3/12 and was upset to hear we couldn't do the ice cream thing this trip... Soarin' is actually a cool ride, my DH and I went on it in DisneyLand. It's your typical simulation ride, and it makes you feel like you are flying up the CA coast. I'm not sure what that has to do with the Land though...

I am really confused about the reaction this new E ticket attraction is getting right now? :confused3 Epcot needs new attractions, and why not have one that has already proven so popular in the California parks? :scratchin I am certainly psyched about the idea of being in a hang gliding simulator flying over the mountains, beaches, orange groves, where you can smell the citrus! :cool1: I believe it is a very wonderful addition to the Land Pavillion and I for one am counting the days until it will open. Garden Grill will reopen in April, so next time you visit, you can eat there and enjoy the new attraction, too! :)

Hi - I'm not familiar with that term? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

Me 2 Me : E rides are from the old days when you had to have individual tickets for each ride - A was for boring stuff up to E for the good stuff - thus E rides.

Boy do I feel old. I was around when those books of tickets were it. 4 a's 3 b and a couple of E's and so on..smjj

We will be there in a few weeks with a 1 year old :Pinkbounc . How come you couldn't bring a stroller into the food area of the land? As I remember it, it is (was  ) a pretty wide open space. Has that changed?

The Sunshine Season Food Fair and The Garden Grill Restaurant will be closed until the beginning of April due to Soarin' queue construction.

I can definitely see the connection between The Land pavillion and Soarin'. I can't wait to ride it this summer. I do feel bad for the people who can't get to The Land in the meantime though. It's always a letdown to have construction going on during your trip. But it's a reason to go back down again :)

You walk into the land on the second floor, mostly everything in the pavilion is on the first floor. For this reason you have to use stairs which are a problem with strollers. Its really easier to just keep them out of the building, then to have people clogging up the stairs, etc.

The Land food was okay. It wasn't THAT good. Although I always liked Garden Grill. That being said there are LOTS of other even better places to eat in Epcot.

Ugly hanger and all ;) I am very happy to have Soarin' in Epcot. (Test Track isn't an appealing looking building from WS either. And no one gripes about that. Heck, guests can even see ToT and S/D from WS!)
We rode Soarin' several times at our only DL trip shortly after DCA opened. Those who have not been on Soarin' will be thrilled when you ride it.
I only wish they were doing a new movie for the FL version, rather than rehashing the CA version.
But can't have everything I guess.

Rumor has it the Land food area will tie into Soarin' by looking like it is a travel stop.

The Lion King show will be down? When? Please tell me it will be open 1/23-1/29. I can't believe all the things that will be down when we are there!!! Guess those are the breaks when traveling at slow times.

Yes, the movie will be down, as you have to enter it from the interior of The Land Pavillion, however, the Outstanding stage show Festival of the Lion King will be up and running in Disney's Animal Kingdom.... after seeing that, you may not miss the movie quite as much!

Oh, didn't even know there was a movie in EPCOT for Lion King. I'm excited to hear that Festival will be up & running. I was getting a little worried!!
