You're missing the OP's point. The napkins, the specialized merchandise, the paper straws, the waterskiing Donald, and all of it added to the specialness of the place. It was all over and above what you would expect. When you start taking some of that away, you start taking away some of the specialness. Of course napkins don't really matter, but they represent something that does: If Disney starts allowing in a "good enough" mindset, then eventually it becomes an oversized Six Flags. That may be inevitable given the need to maximize profits, but it's still regrettable.

I agree with you to a certain point. If im having a Bday for my son, I wouldnt get plain napkins, and yes Id scrapbook the napking for keep sake, but I'm refering to the ones that if they serve Coke at the park they want Pepsi ETC!! LOL!! Im in reality id rather have better TP in the bathrooms instead of the waxy kind but I pack wipes instead!! J/S!! i knowTMI!!

Good summary. I'm actually a little surprised by the number of people who think this thread is about napkins.

Exactly!

A front desk CM told me that AKL was sold out this particular week. If the resorts are selling out in September, makes you wonder if the little nitpicky money-saving measures are really necessary.

Josh at easyWDW wrote that the resorts are nearly always at capacity- Disney just starts releasing discounts until they are full. When they're giving away room discounts and free dining until the very peak holiday season (12-21) maybe it means there is a problem? Also, it seems like everyone on the DIS gets some kind of discount- although there are a lot of very savvy parksters on this forum!

Just have to point out, at 29 years old you ARE one of the "kids these days". Your generation is just beginning to land those management positions, and make those corporate decisions, as you guys enter your thirties. You'll be most powerful when you hit your forties.

A "generation" is 20 to 25 years long, depending on your definition. The generation coming in after you? They're still in grade school!

Give the poor kids a break. :rotfl2: They're not even old enough to legally work yet.

Haha, your right, I was meaning more their the age group. The Texting group! Texting wasn't big until I was in college, kids 14-20 right now... Who are in the service positions who think you are bothering them for wanting them take your order. Even there is laziness with my age group... Even in management positions, (I wonder how they got that position) . People expect more for less work... It just bothers me, especially when you see them texting while your food is getting cold! but I get real excited to see someone who is working hard and having fun and I always make a point to tell them and then their boss. So I will give my kid a break ;) and try to raise her with ppl skills, and work ethic... ;)
