Years ago when I would go to WDW as a child, I absolutely LOVED the Ambrosia Salad at the Polynesian's buffet dinner. It also used to be available at Fort Wilderness Campground at the Trading Posts.

Since that time, Ohana's moved in, and of course the menu has changed for the Polynesian. I don't recall coming across the Ambrosia salad at any of the places we ate during our trip in 2000. So, I was wondering if it had just completely disappeared. :confused3: We will be going to the Trail's End buffet on our next trip so I thought there was a possibility it might be part of that buffet (since it is in Fort Wilderness).

It is not a big deal...but sort of a nostalgic type of thing. But still, it was a seriously good treat!

Anyone else know what I am talking about? Know if it is still available at one of the WDW eateries??

Ambrosia salad is currently listed on the menu for the Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club. I am not sure if there are other locations that include this on the menu, but I hope so. This is one of my favorites also.:cool1:

KLL is right it is at Cape May's Clam Bake. Unfortunatly I have not found it anywhere else either(not even at TE or in the trading posts). It is really yummy though, when I was little we always had breakfast at what is now California Grill(back then it was simply Top of the World) on the day we checked out and the ambrosia was one of my favortie things on the buffet.

The last couple of times that we stayed at the Poly, we were able to get it at Captain Cooks. It's been 2 years since our last trip to the Poly but the ambrosia salad that they had was wonderful!

Were you thinking of the Papeete Bay Verandah? I remember seeing ambrosia on the menu in the late eighties (it reminded me of that seventies soft-rock band).

Thanks everyone!

KLL, we are actually planning for an ADR at Cape May Buffet (as you know)....so hopefully that is the Ambrosia salad I remember. :thumbsup2

Happy, I don't actually remember having it at any of our breakfast meals when I was a kid....but these days it wouldn't matter what meal it was...breakfast, lunch, dinner...middle of the night snack...I could eat it anytime! :goodvibes

Kathy, I'm not familair with Captain Cook's so I will have to do some checking in to that one. Thanks for the tip.

sotoalf, I'm not sure, that might have been it. A lot of the specific restaurant names from when I was there as a kid escape me now. A bit of a gap between when we went then till now and all I can actually remember for most things...is the resort location. The last time I went in 2000 I really didn't do much in the way of the planning part...so I sort of missed out on getting an update on restaurant names then too.
