What happened to HoJo?

Just reserved a 2 bedroom at a highly rated place in Kissimmee 15 minutes from WDW for $89/night. Once you've shopped offsite prices in Florida getting a room near DL is all the more painful :P

We always rent a villa (4 bed/3 bath, private pool and hot tub) in Emerald Island Resort in Kissimee for $100/night. So close to the parks too.

I was just talking to my daughter about that. We're going to the HM event and were looking for lower-priced lodging, but we didn't find much. Best we did was Candy Cane Inn at $150. We used to grab those AP rates and get one of the fun old rooms at Hojo with the up high eyebrow windows (or whatever they're called). There were 2 beds, and they were on the smaller side, but it was perfect for us, the room was cool, and the rate was only $49/night! We would couple that with a SW special on flights for $29 each way and it was a cheap trip (relatively speaking). Crazy now to think of $120 total for flights and $150 plus tax for hotel for 3 nights. Had APs so didn't need to buy tickets, and APs were cheaper then by quite a bit. What a difference a decade makes!

God, I HATED those windows. I am NOT a morning person. After our first night there I requested a room on the lower floor. We stayed there a couple times and I honestly didn't "love" it the way most seem to. It was okay. I also never got the real bargain rates. Haven't stayed there since 2005.

What?!?! I loved those windows. But they did make it bright first thing in the morning. I just felt like it was God telling me to get up and beat everyone to the long security line.

I'm in a room at Hojo in Bldg 3 right now with two sleeping kids. I love the interior corridors and how quiet it is.

When price checking, this was the best price because we can take advantage of the 20% AP discount, so we got the room (huge with 2 double beds and a cot in the closet) for $147. We were able to take advantage of the 50% off email special in late May and got a room for $78.

The only "cheaper" room on Harbor/walking distance for tonight was Desert Inn at $129 but with their charge for parking at $13 and not being allowed to park there before check in :crazy2: that was no deal at all.

We've found pricing on Harbor definitely has gone up, and yes there seem to be more variances with Hojo pricing.

There were no "long security lines" back in 2005 (the last time I stayed there). Everything back then was pretty much better as far as being able to avoid massive crowds.

That's an incredible deal. I didn't know you could get it so low. Of course, not being AP holders makes it tough.

Last time I stayed there was in 2008, when they still had the "retro" rate of $79 a night for a 2 Queen in building one. That's long gone!

The 50% off was an email promo earlier this summer- no need to be an AP for that one. As far as the regular 20% AP discount, you can get pretty close using the DISBoards discount for the Hojo of 15%. Kriss (hojoanaheim on the boards) always has it in her signature.

Totally agree! We were visiting my parents in Alabama, 3 weeks a go, and since its 6 hour drive to WDW, we decided to a quick trip to the word. We are able to get a Home 2 suites , 2 queens, sofa bed, kitchen ,free parking, free wifii and free breakfast for 95 dollars a night! Close to Disney springs, easy drive! Hubby and I were just discussing the hotel prices at Disneyland are very high! We been going to Disneyland several times over the years, and this year the prices are very high!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is noticing the price increases. But I will be joining their email so I can get discounts, thanks for the tips!

HoJo prices have increased, but so has everyone else. Back when I paid $280 for Grand Californian on a deal, I paid $99 on a HoJo deal the same year or closely after. The Grand still is about 3 times as expensive, I think. I wish my pay tripled in that same time!
