I have not gotten any discounts at restaurants. Is that all gone? I mean I know it was only 10% but it added up over 7 days.

Just doesn't seem as much as they used to be. The stores also will not give me my DVC discount without my card. I didn't think it was necessary bc I received the little rubber thing for my magic band so we left it at home.

Blue member ID cards have always been required to receive perks (whether or not all CM's asked for them all the time). The MB sliders mean nothing. They are simply decoration the same way the jibbitz were for Crocs.

Personally, I don't think the dining discounts have changed much at all over the years except to add new places.

From the current Member Perks:

A Note to Members.
Special offers are made available to Members at various times. Members should visit DVCMember.com or contact
Member Services for the most up-to-date information. To receive any of these offers, you must present your Disney Vacation Club Member ID along with a corresponding valid photo ID. Disney Vacation Club Member discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or promotions. Offers valid through December 31, 2014, unless otherwise
noted. Some offers are through third-party providers. All offers are subject to availability, change, and/or termination
without notice. Visit DVCMember.com for a list of full perks and complete details.

All discounts vary and may be suspended or discontinued at any time. Locations and operating hours subject to change without notice.
Block-out dates apply for all offers, including but not limited to: 1/1/14, 2/14/14, 4/20/14, 5/11/14, 7/4/14, 11/27/14, 12/24/14, 12/25/14, and 12/31/14.

I think you might be able to get a replacement card by going over to the Member Center at SSR but am not 100%.

The only benefit I've seen in the sliders is that sometimes a cast member will recognize them and remind you of the discount.

How do you get the sliders?

If you are in the MDE system as a DVC member, they will be sent with your new MB's.

They are aren't really good for anything other than trying to make you feel special and free advertising for the DVC.

I asked several CM's about them and currently they are not recognized as proof of valid membership. You still need your member card and picture ID.

You get the sliders sent with your magic bands as long as you are staying on points. We let my sister use sone of our points and even though the reservation was in her name, and NOT a DVC member she still received the sliders in her magic band boxes. IMO that may be why you can not use the sliders for discounts

In Disneyland, it was really nice getting DVC discounts at most locations. (Stores, QS dining, corn dog stand... ) On top of it, it seemed all CM's asked "do you have an AP" which always reminded me to say, "no, but I have my DVC card"

I like the sliders because they keep your magic band from popping off accidentally. Your put on your band and then slide the slider over the end.

If they were proof of membership, people would be handing them off to their non-member friends & family.

I think the big difference is the black out dates. I do not remember black out dates before. The TIW card had them but the DVC discount did not.

If you use your magic bands to pay for items they should be able to give you membershipdiscount... Not difficult to do and saves the hassle of taking cards with you.

This is not accurate. Guests still need to show their DVC membership card and, quite often, a photo ID to get and DVC related discounts. The MagicBands will link to a guest's MDE account, but does not show any information related to DVC membership.

Disney has never said that discounts would be automatic.

Do you work for the company that made the point of sale system that Disney uses?

The point of offering a discount that requires a coupon or special ID card is that not everyone who qualifies for the discount will use it.

Disney/DVC gets the positive PR because they offered a discount but they don't have to give the discount to every DVC member.
