What happened to airfare prices: ORD to MCO?

Maybe I've never traveled to Orlando in the summer, but what happened to the airfare from O'Hare to Orlando? :confused3 Usually I get get fare for well under $200, about $170. I look now and prices are at least $205. (I would like to fly out some weekend Fri-Sun starting June 24th; any weekend this summer) And even Southwest, who I have yet to fly, is sold out out the really great fares, anything above $79 is open.

United can be great b/c if their prices go down & you catch it, they'll give you future flight credits.

Basically, many airlines are losing BILLIONS of dollars annually (increased fuel costs being one factor), and more people are flying. I think most of the airlines have finally figured out just because you offer low fares and get your planes 100% full, doesn't mean you make any money. So, prices are moving up as airlines try to get in the black. I'd pick a price that you're comfortable with, and book it when the price gets there. I really doubt that we'll see the deeply discounted fares that we got in the past.

I did ok with Spirit BUT have never travelled with them before. I'll report in July how they did.

I really think all the advertisement that WDW is doing is paying off - more people are going to WDW -

with the new magical express more are flying - I haven't flown since 1999 - but next month I am flying - the flight wasn't expensive and WDW will pick me up at the airport for FREE....

I don't think I am the only one!

Free? Awesome. Are you part of a magical gathering? Is that where the free pick-up comes from?

Ahh yes, I came across an article discussing higher gasoline prices for airlines. That's too bad... :sad2:

Anyone staying at a WDW resort can get the free airport transportation and baggage handling (for inbound, outbound is restricted to certain airlines), it's called Magical Express.

Wow, awesome. I'll pass this info onto my Dsister who is going this summer. She'll love it! :cool1:

install Southwest's Ding! software

yesterday (Wed 4/20) you would of been able to get 126 rt pp for the dates you were looking for.

Southwest from MDW to MCO

if I understood your post, you want to fly down for a weekend this summer after 6/24

first weekend that had open Ding! fares was fri 7/8 returning sun 7/10

$126.40 pp.

How comparable do you think the flight prices will be for Sept. on SW from MDW? Same as that 126.00 fare? Got a flight possibility right now on United for 197 pp, but would love to hold out for SW if it's worth it, but I'm afraid to wait much longer....
