What gifts are hot for 14-16 year old girls

Last year we bought DS a pair of refurbished Dr. Dre Beats by Monster from the Monster Cable refurbished store for $199. This saves a lot when compared to the $399 retail price. The headphones looked brand new and he's never had a problem with them. Make sure you buy them directly from Monster or else you risk getting fakes. There are tons of fake Beats out there (just like fake Uggs)

My DD15 loves Urban Decay make-up. They are pro vegan, creulty-free, and they are largest independently owned color cosmetic company in the United States. You can find Urban Decay on their website (lots of good sales sometimes) and at places like Ulta, Sephora, and Macy's.

I picked up her Beats from Best Buy last week. I didn't know about refurbished ones.

She is beginning to give me a few more hints. The one tonight was for some Bobby Brown makeup. I may look at the Urban Decay make-up for her too.

Urban Decay is great, but be prepared when you go to look at it, it's INTENSE! High pigment, in your face color. Tons of glitter. I'm 48 and love their product but have to pick and choose or I look like I'm on the way to a club instead if PTA. Their eye pencils are the best. They also make a great eye primer and setting spray. Another good line is Too Faced, also sold at Sephora and ULTA.
Other big hits with my girls are the new fragrences by Justin Bieber (Someday) and Taylor Swift (Wonderstruck). Surprisingly they don't smell bad and the Bieber one is a strictly to charity purchase. My girls have good taste in fragrence, another hit is Daisy by Marc Jacobs and the Viva la Juicy. Again, the rollerballs are available on a lot of them for around $20 each.

I could never wear Urban Decay, but teens love it! My DD has never been a heavy make-up user and likes the more natural look. But a friend of hers did her make-up for her one one day and DD fell in love with the products. She picks and chooses her colors wisely. It's not cheap, but lasts a long time. I recently bought DD box of 8 eye shadow colors on clearance for $15 (regular price $60). I was going to use it as a stocking stuffer, but when the box arrived, it said "Urban Decay" all over it, so DD called me at work and asked if it was for her. Be careful if you order online and want it to be a secret. Next time I'll have it mailed to a friend's house.

My DD also loves Juicy and Daisy. Those are her two favorite scents. She told my DH to get me a BIG bottle of it for my birthday. She picked out the $90 bottle (of course) so that she could use it, too.

I didn't know about the refurbs either until I saw someone post the deal on slickdeals. Believe it or not, my DS's friend had a pair and told DS he could get him a pair for $150. He said his dad had a website where he sold things and he could get a good deal on them. I told DS to get the dad's phone number and I'd call him.

I called the boy's dad and he did say he'd be happy to get DS a pair of Dr. Dre Beats at his cost -- $150. He also said he could get this large palette of Mac eyeshadow for some ridiculously cheap price. Red flags went up which is when I started researching about all of the fake name-brand products that are sold on the internet, including Beats and Mac. I told the dad "thanks but no thanks" and then bought DS the real thing refurbished.

The Best Buy Beats are definitely legit, but you could return the pair at Best Buy and buy refurbished ones from Monster. You'd save a bunch of money.

My 14 1/2 year old's big present will be a homemade "gift card" for her choice of private driving lessons OR the money that the lessons'd cost. I know she'll do what her older sister did and choose the lessons. This is really the gift of time. Kids who take private lessons are able to get their permits on the day they turn 15, then they can get their licenses at 16. In contrast, the kids who wait for school's driver's ed can't get into the class 'til they're 15 1/2 at least . . . and that means they have to wait longer to get their licenses.

This is really a gift for ourselves too. It means she has more time to practice driving before she heads out to college. It's something that's worked really well for her older sister.

Other things I've already bought:

A couple books -- I always add more, more, more books
Electronic Scrabble game -- saw this at school; it's really cute
A wii game
Art supplies
A thin, dressy coat that I know she'll love
A sweater & scarf
A Webkinz goat -- she's always asking me to buy her a goat

A few stocking stuffers:
An oragami kit, a spyrograph kit, some make-up, gel pens

She needs clothes; I'll add a few more things along that line, and that'll be it.

Last year, DD14 got Uggs, Coach purse, Nikon camera, and Clinique make-up along with some clothes. She was thrilled with everything. This year I'm not so sure what we are getting her except for a gift certificate to have a keratin hair treatment which she asked for. I will have to ask if she is into the North Face jackets. She never wears a jacket/coat which drives me crazy so if she will wear it I will get it for her.

i would also include the hair products for the keratin treatment. my mother does it and you need the products to maintain it b/c it will change the actual protein of your hair (or something like that, all i know is i inherited a ton of product when she started doing it).

when i was a teen i never asked for things like a new tv, stereo, ipod but was happy to get them.

makeup was always nice and i still have my brushes. the animal hair ones can last long with care, but probably not a good idea with the vegan makeup. ;)

i used to work at victorias secrets and boy did those teen girls love their panties and sweat outfits. panties are personal so i would suggest a good old GC.

my cousin is 16, full on emo, and the last time i saw her she had teal blue hair streaks in her hair (and blue fingers:rotfl:). she gets good old cash, as a girly girl i have no idea what she would want.

That's good to know about getting her all the products, thanks! I will ask the stylist about it when I go pick up the gift card at the salon.

Dick's and Sports Authority have Under Armour hoodies on sale for $54.99 in lots of different colors. My daughter is into sports and loves her sweats and hoodies so I will probably get her one of these too.

Here's what my almost 14 year old DD (bday a few weeks after Christmas) is asking for:-

iPod docking station (haven't bought it yet)
iTunes cards
clothes & shoes (no expensive brands-she will be happy with lots of less expensive things, she's outgrown nearly everything so this is a need)
Girly bath sets
Permission to have a boyfriend (yes-I actually received this is writing! LOL! NOT going to happen even if this month's crush is "the cutest thing ever and he likes me too")

I was thinking the Coach bag thing was absurd at this age, and while I'm glad she hasn't asked for one, it'll probably be an easier pill to swallow than permission to have a boyfriend! Haven't told overprotective DH that one yet...He won't just "have a cow," he'll have a whole herd!

I have a 14 year old.. so far I've asked her and she says nothing..

She does like the following stores:

Garage
Forever 21
Tilly's (for some things)

She's been borrowing her dads old Ipod touch, so that may be an idea.

My 14 year old has made it so simple for me this year, bless her heart, LOL!
She wrote out her list by store, department and then specifics. The bad part ~ most of her list is from Hot Topic, and I hate that store! She loves their hair accessories and T-shirts though, so I will brave it for her because she is a good kid and doesn't ask for much. ;)

My 17 year old wants all girly stuff, mostly from Ulta and Sephora and she wants a new Ipod dock that also has a CD player.

18 year old hasn't given me her list yet.

13 year old's list is all books and movies ~ between amazon and bn.com, I won't even have to set foot in a store for her! :thumbsup2

My 14 year old wants an Ipod touch and clothes, jewelry, and make-up.

She likes Hollister, Abercrombie, Aeropostale.

Vera Bradley bags, Ipod Touch, Camera, Boots, Coach, Taylor Swift perfume, Mall gift cards, Outlet gift cards, ipod touch gift cards.

I already got DD (15) a Vera Bradley back-pack plus the matching duffel bag, purse, mini hipster and wristlet. She wants another pair of sperrys, but I think I will just give her a gift card to the shoe store and let her pick out her own. She wants a new cell phone, but I am going to make her buy her own because she is so hard on them maybe she will take care of it better. The only thing I haven't got for her that she has been asking for is a docking station for her ipod. I think I will let someone else get her that.

I don't think anyone can beat my 15yo for odd... :lmao:

She recently told us that what she really, really, REALLY wants for her birthday is an advanced First Aid course with the Red Cross. Go figure. :confused3

We've booked one for her, of course - two days after her 16th birthday! But we won't count that as a birthday present.

I have no idea what we'll get her at this point... she's incredibly hard to shop for. If all else fails gift certificates and cash are always good!
