I would like to know what we can't bring in so it isn't taken away at the border. Also what foods are not allowed back into canada for our way back home.

Is all meat a no no? What about fruit/veggies?

thanks.

We leave 4 weeks today! Its our first time and we are getting very excited!

I have been trying to figure this out as well. Wwould like to bring snacks for the kids on the big drive.

Not 100% sure...........I believe fresh fruits and veggies are a no-no.....I started a thread on this earlier.......food in checked baggage was the title.......not sure what the consensus was.

Anything packaged I think would be fine

Go to servicecanada .ca / passports and it will tell you what you can and cannot take. It is a very long list.

I couldn't find anything by checking out Sharptooth's link, but I always like to go right to the source for questions like this. And as far as coming back into Canada, here's the link to the CBSA page.

I just wanted to say that you can bring fruits and veggies but it depends where they are from so keep the stickers on the fruits. Yes check the list for sure as it does change Kim

I just got back over a week ago - we drove to Disneyland. When I crossed into the states, I got stopped at the border for oranges and apples - they took them because the sticker was not on it - keep the packaging or sticker and you should be ok.

We always pack food, meat sandwiches and fruit, and have never been asked about it....not to say that it couldn't happen.

Friends of mine have had all their beef confiscated from their RV freezer. Twice:scared1: After the second time they said they wouldn't risk in again.

Fruit has to have a sticker that says U.S. or Canada same for vegies (difficult since most aren't tagged). Chicken, pork and beef (yes it is now ok) are permissable. Packaged snacks are fine. No raw eggs and there is also now something about nuts and seeds although I keep sunflower seeds in my car. Pet food must be in original bag. I work in the U.S. 5x per week and cross the border. That is what they are after as of today, but it could very well change in 4 wks time.:confused3

What's happening in 4 weeks?

Nothing in particular. It just seems that the rules change when they feel like it so I would check the website a couple of days before you go. I know that some inspectors were taking beef out of cars even after it was changed back to being ok, so you need to check close to your trip. But basically speaking if she wants snacks for her kids, packaged stuff is ok and make sure your fruit has stickers from U.S. or Canada.

Target has a pretty good Dollar Week ad, if anyone is close enough to get there.
