What food & snacks to you bring

I too take nothing can't stand to carry it .

All we really took in was bottled water, powder to flavor the park water when we refilled, apple juice boxes, fruit snacks and Tic-Tacs. We had lots of other snacks in our van for the road trip, but when my kids are at Disneyland they LOVE the special treat of Mickey-shaped pretzels, cotton candy, churros, and their newest love Dole Whips :lovestruc . Since our trips seem to be averaging out about once every 3 years, we splurge and buy the park food. That said, we saw LOTS of folks whom we presumed to be AP holders who had entire meals and flats of water with them, and we envied them for their organization skills (and the $$ they were saving!)

They took in a case of water? HOW would you transport that around the parks? Crazy!!! We each have a bottle of water that we carry, we just refill it when it's empty and recycle it at the end of the day.

I also bring along lots of small and medium Hefty zipper bags. I can buy a box of popcorn and then munch the whole day away without having to throw the popcorn away because I am in line.:lmao: I can make a box of popcorn last half a day and be filled up.

Wow, when we buy popcorn it lasts about 5 minutes, 10 max:lmao:

We bring:

water
sodas
juice boxes
pb&j
apple sauce
gold fish
granola bars
fruit snacks

We share a bottle of water, for me and the two boys and refill as needed, not a huge one just a smallish one, so it isn't too heavy as I have to carry it all myself.
Everyday we have clif bars.
Other things we sometimes take were goldfish, cheetos, caprisun, grapes, apples, mixed dried fruit and nuts,

For lunch in the park I packed PB&J or Almond butter and Jelly. I didn't like the look of them, so will go back to the bagel Idea I did in 2005, taking a bagel with separately sealed jelly, It lasted way better at the bottom of the bag.

We are bringing : Capri Sun pouches, beef jerkey, trail mix, m&m's, and mini kit kat bars. (not necessarily all of that at one time to the park though - that is just the snacks we are packing for vacation.)

We are on a budget trip this year...so staying at a hotel w/ a full hot breakfast to fill up on each morning, taking in stuff to munch on - kids carry mini-backpacks and I have a mommy bag w/ backpack straps, and planning on 1 full meal plus fun snacks each day in the park. The only drinks we pay for in the park are Mint Juleps 'cause they are our #1 favorite treat.

So, I usually place an albertsons.com order to be delivered to the hotel, normally the following kind of stuff so that we have a bit of variety each day:

uncrustables (pb&j and pb&honey)
orange slices
apple slices
grapes
goldfish crackers
pirates booty
rice krispie treats
carrot sticks
celery sticks
snow peas
mini boxes of raisins
koolaid singles for our refillable camelback bottles (the smaller size that clips onto a backpack - they're great - no spills!)

Beef jerky, granola bars, goldfish, dried fruit (a little fiber). We don't usually bring in anything too sweet - we do sometimes buy cotton candy or a mickey ice cream or whatever. My kids just tend to want the jerky.

The one family I saw in particular had a stroller, and the entire storage space under the seat was taken up by a flat of water. I noted the mother was digging food out of her backpack so I deduced that they were on the "BYO" plan. Smart if you can swing it. We only had a small umbrella stroller that didn't even have a place to store one bottle of water let alone a whole case!

water
dried blue berries
fruit flavored licorice

First of all let me start of by saying we are a family of 6 and my girls ages 8, 6, 4, and 2 They are still SO picky about food that not only would it be a waste of money but they would starve because we wouldn't be going home so that they could eat! LOL!! I also get from my local grocery store these inulated bags with handels there called hot cold bags but they are disposable. They only cost me a dollar. I will bring paper bowls and cereal for the hotel room this year there is not free breakfast at the HOJO.
Frozen water bottles
Caprisuns ( the boxes will break apart if they sit too long with condecation)
Pepsi
energy drink (DH)
Milk ( hotelroom)
Presliced and prepackaged apples
string cheese
ritz crackers
salami
grapes
gogurts (frozen)
Homemade trailmix made of frootlops banana chips, peanuts, and marshmellows
That is more of there "meal"food.
For snacks I bring whole bags of
Goldfish
cheeze its
pretzels
I buy the toddles disposable snack cups and load the up. My stroller also has a basket and pockets behind the seats I litteraly loaded the stroller like it was my purse!
We also got a locker to put our extra drinks in so that they would stay cold. Along with a refill of snacks. I never know if my kids will eat until the cows come home or just graze!!
We eat in the park ....but I haven't really found anything that is supper great yet...suggestions?

Ahhh, that is smart and makes sense. They are probably locals who are always there. :) lol

Wow! Great thread! I've already picked up several ideas for other stuff to bring.

We typically bring water bottles, homemade trail mix, granola bars, cheese crackers, and fruit. After reading the suggestions here, we'll have several things to add. ;)

Like several of the others, we eat breakfast and dinner off-site and snack for lunch.

When my kids were little and I had a stroller to carry stuff, we took juice, apple slices, goldfish, bananas, dried fruit (mango), water, etc.

Now that my kids have grown out of strollers, we pack much lighter - I take a single re-usable bottle filled with water - we refill as necessary. I throw in a couple of granola bars, string cheesesticks, maybe a few grapes, goldfish crackers, dried mango, or similar.

Trail mix is good but when you get the kind with chocolate it melts together. So the tropical kind is better when its hot. That and water we bring lots of water. We bring other things like suckers for my kids when we have to stand in line a long time. We also bring other things but usually dont use them because the chocolate covered bannanas tempt us too much. we usually get those in stead of eating what we bring.

we where at DLR in 2/09 and I found the food to be gross. We spent 3 days in the park and I felt ill bythe time we left. Even my favorite churros were gross. I felt run down and know it was from the junk food in the park. We will be there in July and plan to bring alot of my own food.

I love all the food ideas!

Since my DS is now potty trained, we will have a lot more room in the diaper bag for food now :cool1:

I always bring granola bars and fruit leathers, and one water bottle per person.

This time I will also be bringing:

juice boxes
100 calorie packs of mixed nuts for me
slim jims (bleh) for the kids, they love them
probably some jerkey, dried fruits, raisins, etc.

Before we leave I pretty much take a look in my refrigerator from home.
Pack portable things in a cooler for our 6 hour drive.

One time I brought an entire pizza in a giant zip lock that we had left over.
(it was a buy 3 for a special deal deal and we didn't eat it all)
That pizza lasted us our whole trip. DD3 LOVED having it for when I wanted to eat something in the park she wouldn't like.
She liked it at "room temperature"
after we were in the park a few hours.
(this was before I knew I could heat it up in the baby care center for her)
When in the hotel it was easy to heat up for a snack or lunch.

One time I had a rotisserie
turkey breast in my fridge at home-
so I sliced it up and packed in a zip lock.
We made turkey cheese cracker sandwiches
for us as snacks and lunch in the park.
We also had sliced apples I had precut in the hotel.
The older kids ate park food like gumbo etc.
When I tried to buy dd3 food in the
park one night for dinner, she was screaming for her cracker sandwiches... lol
I ended up eating her burrito while she ate more crackers etc.
:rolleyes1

Yogurt covered raisins mixed with cheerios and dried strawberries are a big hit with dd to.

We bring a $5 toaster, loaf of raisin bread and stick of butter
to eat toast in the hotel in the morning while we get ready.
Before we leave, I make dd oatmeal in a covered tupperware bowl
-pack it in the stroller-
and as I have my mocha and chocolate croissant in BRB - dd eats her apple Cinnamon oat meal.
(of course she gets bites of my croissant)
The older kids like their granola bars for breakfast.
We always bring our own water. Usually bring in 6 with us in
a soft sided cooler in the stroller- or four waters two sodas.
Blue ice packs keep our stuff cold
all day and from going bad. (cheese, turkey etc)
