For me, there are many firsts at Disneyworld.

My first time there was the summer of 1972. My folks and I vacationed in St. Petersburg, Florida every year for years and 1972 was the last year for vacations. After that my last three years in High School were kept busy 10+ months out of the year with Marching and Symphonic bands.

In 1975 our Band came to the St. Petersburg Festival of States. The Band was invited to Disneyworld and all 212 of us marched down Main Street. What a thrill that was and to share our music with all the visitors at Disney.

MY DW was at Disneyworld the year it opened and many many times after that.

Our first time together at Disneyworld was for our Honeymoon in 1986. Way back then we stayed in a cabin at the Fort. The first of many times at Disneyworld and the Fort. We have stayed in the cabins many times but tent camped only once. And now this May another first, trailer camping in our new trailer at the Fort.

So what firsts do you have?

Rang in the First of January, 2000, at EPCOT. It was a seriously long and crowded day, but a cherished memory. My whole extended family had a great dinner in France, watched Illuminations (I think it was still Illuminations back then), and then staked out a spot where we kept watch for the fireworks until midnight. Such a long day. We arrived at the park on the very first bus, waited to get in, napped on the grass outside Energy Adventure. Within an hour of opening, the park was announced as full and closed. By the time we caught a bus and got back to our hotel, it was after 3 a.m.

Lots of firsts at Disney!

But, this year we took our daughter on her first trip to WDW, Fort Wilderness, and proceeded to have her first haircut at the Barber shop at MK!

August 2016 was our First for getting an AP. Because of that, we ended up taking 2 trips in 2016 (August and November) and will be taking (hopefully) a third trip with this AP in April 2017.

Our first stay at Fort Wilderness we were there for Hurricane Opal, October 1995 in our 28' Class C motorhome and stayed in the 200 loop. We lucked out with only some rain and high winds, unlike those staying in Panama City.

We drove through Hurricane Hugo on our way to the Fort (cabins) the first time we went to WDW in 1989. I still vividly remember standing and watching the eye of the hurricane at age 7. It was spectacular. That same trip I taught my younger sister to swim underwater. I also remember the lawnmower grown into the tree (I think it is gone now).

First smoked turkey legs. First bottle of Champagne. First Segway ride. First Kona coffee. First chocolate chip pecan pie. First pressed penny.
