What films put a lump in your throat?

A Beautiful Mind. That scene at the end when the students are laying the pens on John Nash's table. It gets me every time!

Taking Chance (pretty much on and off throughout)

We Are Marshall (pretty much on and off throughout)

Millions (at the end when he tells us what they did with the money)

Le Mis (I Dreamed a Dream part)

The ending of West side story gets me everytime.
Also, Cathys death scene in Wuthering heights (the Ralph fiennes juilet binoche version)
and The best years of our lives, pretty much the whole movie.

I cry over everything, LOL.

Most recently, my DS11 and I sobbed hysterically over the ending of Big Hero 6...and I teared up several times throughout. Seriously, why did no one warn me???

but the one that I can barely take at all is Hope Floats. It just hits too close to home on so many levels. I relate to Birdie, I relate to Berniece...Ugh. Sob fest. I have tears flowing through basically the entire movie. And yet I keep watching because I adore Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick, Jr.

Oh yes, I forgot about Taking Chance. I also cry throughout the movie.

Last night I watched the last 15 minutes of Missing. The sirens, the music. What a great movie ending.

"Contact" with Jodie Foster. At the end with the dedication - "For Carl". [Carl Sagan]

Brian's Song, the only film real man are allowed to tear up on

My husband would argue that and add My Life, with Michael Keaton to that list.

I cry at everything also, most of the ones mentioned already, and pretty much everything else.
I refuse to watch Marley and Me, EVER! Nor the one with Richard Gere.
But I have watch 8 Below a few times, and boy that one kills me. I cry because they are beautiful running across the snow, I cry tears of sadness, tears of joy, just lot's of tears :)
I watched Stepmom once, never again. Life as a House was another tough one.
And back on the animal topic, I am Legend, I cry harder and earlier every time I watch it.
Terms of Endearment, as mentioned, is probably one of the worst ever, but I still love it.

Lots. But one almost certain not to be mentioned by anyone else in this thread is Gettysburg. The scene with the charge down Little Round Top. Every. Single. Time.

Endless list here too.

I can bawl at a commercial..... and a song. Even reading about things. wow. sap.

DD20 & I cried at that in several parts. She very rarely cries but I am a big baby. I used to never cry but as an adult, I cry over absolutely everything. I hate it but just can't help it.

I did not see Up mentioned yet. Several parts in that get to me. Toy Story 2 & 3, anything talking about kids growing up usually causes tears.

Steel Magnolias is a favorite even though it's so sad. I refuse to watch any dog dying movies but I'm sure I'd cry at those.

A lump in my throat? It's A Wonderful Life comes to mind.

Full on blubbering? Steel Magnolias. When I was young and saw that movie for the first time in the theater, I was a mess. But I love the relationship between M'Lynn and Shelby so much that I swore I would name my future daughter Shelby. And I did. Little did I know that my DD would have health issues. Now I can't watch that movie without becoming a total mess.

The hardest cry I've ever had in the theater was Marley & Me. People were running out of the theater during "that" scene. I was sobbing so hard that I wasn't able to hide it. But the whole place was blubbering with me.

We were fully sobbing even after leaving the theater at Marley and Me. Haven't been able to watch again.

12 Years a Slave--When the children are sold and separated from their mother. And many other times. That movie was so heavy for me--I will never watch it again.

My Girl
My Life
Beaches
Marley & Me--I didn't really know what it was about and rented it when my daughter was home sick. She looked at me sobbing and said "why would you make me watch that movie?" Eek

Hunger Games--after Rue dies. I cried through that part in the book, but the little girl that plays Rue looks just like my daughter.

I never cry at movies. No, I do not.

Well, maybe once.

Or twice….

in addition to some mentioned:

Casablanca
Empire of the Sun
The Way We Were
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Out of Africa
Born Free

Mostly I am crying because this thread is showing my age.

we are marshall...because i /our school was a part of it.

( i'll never forget the locker room after the game.)

seldom a cartoon can capture some of the essentials in living
a wonderful life...but whoever did the sword in the stone
series...knew the best ways to represent the feelings of
love, via the squirrels. not only the good parts but also the
pains. but the extra special edition was in "adding"
merlin to the mix, taking him out of the educator role
to being the pupil....plus frustrations. then @ the end, he
added his reflections ...as the little girl squirrel fighting
tears. so sweet, so true love.

can't help wondering, who gave the writer those insights.

Up. My boyfriend has a rule that I can't watch it without him because one time I watched it when he was away and I just sobbed hysterically on the couch till he came home. I love it so much, though! Such a good movie!:thumbsup2
