What is considered an upgrade at the Swan or Dolphin?

I mean what do most people consider an upgrade???

We have been there several times and stayed with teacher discount and was wondering if we are getting any type of upgrade or not.

First visit we stayed at Dolphin and were in a room on the sixth floor with a view of Epcot fireworks. Is that a standard view or is that considered an upgrade?

Second visit we had a room at the Swan and had a view of TOT and kinda a view of Fantasmic. Is that a standard view or an upgrade?

We would love to be able to say we got an upgrade but I am not for sure what is considered a upgrade. I know that may sound rude but I just cannot see paying extra money for the rooms we have had. They are nice but I would think standard.

It is silly to think that some day we would get a upgrade to concierge without having to pay an extra money?

We love the Swan and Dolphin so we really do not care what we get. We love the location.

Thanks for the helpful thought!

We've had quite a bit of luck with room upgrades, almost always in off-season.

An upgraded view at YC would be water view and that will probably mean a view of the quiet pool or the Boardwalk. We were upgraded to pool view in October and it was lovely. Our kids were able to hop, skip and jump into the pool and back out again. We had a small patio where we could sit and watch them.

Most recently we were upgraded at CBR from a standard view to a water view and at AKL from a standard to a pool view.

Two things to remember - its been said a hundred times but BE NICE! Demands won't get you anywhere. Use "if possible", "we were hoping", or "do you think?"

It also helps if you can come up with a reason for your upgrade. On our trip last week, DH and I were traveling alone. I mentioned this at check-in "no kids this time - just our little escape trip". Mentioning that this is your favorite resort has helped. Be happy - act like you're glad to be there! CM's will enjoy making you even happier.

A last note - I'm convinced we all have super secret computer files on us at WDW. It has happened more than once that a CM has pushed so many buttons and, I don't know, seen how often we visit? Poof! Upgrade.

I should mention none of this worked during Spring Break so off- season is definitely a better try!

Hope this helps!
