We had two inside staterooms in April and it was our first cruise. For our next cruise, we're in a cat 7 (used to be cat 5) room. So can you tell me about these trunks and what do you put in them? Shoes, clothes, what?

For the most part, we put cloths in the trunk. One shelf for DH, one for DS8 and one for myself.

hmmm..okay, so there are shelves to this thing. I wish there was a picture of the inside of it somewhere...

Hi. Our last year cruise, our DD16 and DD12 shared the trunk and stored clothes inside. Hope yous have fun.

The Truck has four shelves. My DH and I use those shelves for our bulky items as well as shirts. It is not that big but has enough space for the outerwear. :cool1:

Here are pictures of the steamer trunk in 5522, a Category 10 "secret porthole" stateroom. The steamer truncks are the same in categories 9, 8, 7, 6, and 5. A few staterooms don't have a steamer trunk because there's no indentation in the wall for one.

While you're on the subject of storage.....how much room is in the closet and are there lots of drawers for things too? I figure between the three of us we probably have 42 shirts going with us!

Don't you just LOVE the Dis... All you had to do was ask.
Great pics!

I thought the closet was a pretty decent size. You might want to bring along some extra hangers if you want to hang a fair # of those 42 shirts though.
;)
I know on the repo cruise we had to ask for extra hangers.... they were able to find a few, but we did end up with some wire ones rather than the nice wood hangers.
Guess we were not the only ones who needed extras.

A fair amount of drawers but some of them are pretty shallow. The cabinet above the TV works great for stacking larger items.

I don't know what we would have done without the over the door shoe hanger - but we were traveling with two teen girls and it was pretty much filled with make-up and jewelry!

First 2 cruises I stored all my clothes and my daughters clothes in the steamer trunk...last cruise I cheaped out and booked a cat. 11 instead of the 6's I had prior and there was no stemer trunk! The dresser drawers are a joke....the top ones are like 3 inches deep, not much getting stored in there! Since there was no steamer trunk I ended up having to hang up everything, even tshirts! Luckily first thing I ask for is an extra 20-25 or so hangers to be brought to the room!

The steamer trunk was quite large. We had 7 suitcases full of stuff, and we were able to unpack all of them and store the empties (some stashed inside each other) under the bed.

My husband and I packed all of our clothes except underwear in the steamer trunk. The kids' clothes fit in the other drawers. I just divided them by category (underwear, shorts, tops, PJs, etc.). We still had two shelves in the closet, two small drawers and the cabinet above the TV empty after unpacking. (We filled these up later with souvenirs!) I was VERY impressed with all of the storage space! We were in a category 6 room.

Packing hint.....I pack all my shirts and hubby's on coated wire hangers right in the suitcase....then all I do is take them out and hang them all up...saves a ton of time and I personally do not like the hangers that are onboard...they take up way to much space and are very noisy....I think DCL should invest in equipping all the staterooms with Joy Mangano's Huggable Hangers!!!!
