What exactly do you get with concierge service?

Are the H2O products different in a concierge room vs a regular cabin? My inlaws just got home from a cat. 3 room, and gave me big 2.7 oz H2O products from their room, (i love that stuff!!) and i remember last time, they brought back smaller containers of different colored H2O stuff... So, do you get more stuff and larger size in the concierge room?

Here is what we experienced....

We did have pop and water in our cat. 3 suite every day (Nov./06) plus a treat every day, canapes, chocolate covered strawberries, selection of desserts, fresh fruit etc.

Boarding first was the best, separate roped off waiting area as well. Also, upon boarding you go to diversions for a meet and greet with snacks and bev. with the concierges. There you can book anything you'd like pretty much. They have a separate Palo inventory so you can change/add any reservations you'd like there or at the spa and on excursions.

There is also a nice reception for concierge guests.

They came to our suite every day and were amazing. When we didn't have autograph books for the characters breakfast, they located the store manager (which was closed that early) and brought 2 to the dining room for us. They booked transfers to MCO for us, got the autograph of a princess we missed, and even "magic"ally made the noise on deck 9 stop at night. There was a lot of chair dragging at night as the crew set up for the next day. I didn't say anything for 4 nights. By then I was exhausted and spoke up.

Room service from all restaurants plus only concierge guests can order breakfast from room service on disembarkation day.

DVD/VCR in suite with library of movies available.

Big selection H20 Spa products

Robes for the whole family

No need to line up at guest services for excursions or anything else. They take care of everything and deliver tickets to your room

Lithograph given to you on the last day.

The suites are amazing. The service is beyond anything I've ever experienced. I miss Sandie and Arnaldo. They made us feel like royalty.

That's just off the top of my head.

We're hooked on concierge!

As are we... We did Cat 3 our first, doing Cat 2 October 2007. Love the service, love the room.

We have a land Conceirge as well... so all of our palo, excursions etc, she booked for us. Any questions, we just email her or call her personal number. We also had concierge walk us down when we were leaving the ship in port, they walk you to the front of the line, no waits.

We just got back from 8032 midship and we loved the suite. but our concierge team stunk. No little gifts for the kids or us . Upon arrival there was a fruit basket but they had cut the strawberries and kiwis up already. nothing grosser that cut up fruit drippings on your uncut fruit. Anyway don't count on concierge for the perks or their helfulness. We got most of our great service from our room steward leo who was transferring to the magic at the end of this 4 day trip. we loved him. He showed the kids how to make towel animals and was always asking if we needed anything. Book the midship for the space and the great room not concierge services.

Were you on the 3-night? I was on Aug 23rd in 8032. Leo was great but sadly I didn't meet him until very late on the last night.

I will admit that I got much, much less goodies from concierge on the 3 night cruise vs. 4 night/7 night. The only thing we got was the fruit plate (our fruit was not cut up) on the first day and chocolate covered strawberries on the second night. We did not receive any more food on the third night but we had plenty of strawberries left over. On the third night we got the lithograph.

Yes, concierge services was sparse on the 3-night. We were disappointed with that. On our 7 night cruise last year we got arcade cards, popcorn, buttons and plenty of food.

I'm guessing it might be an issue with the 3-night cruise. We had an amazing concierge team on our 4-night cruise two years ago. The best ever. I don't remember exactly what goodies we got but I remember not being disappointed.

I think the concierge team on the Wonder are relatively new to their positions and are still learning the ropes.

I thought the walls in 8032 creaked at night. Heard the typical deck 9 noise at 5:00am (I think it was the ping pong tables being moved) but was surprised to hear the walls creaking all night long.

Oh, no, I am sorry to hear this! Were Tracy and Laverne still there?

Thanks for the info! That might be the goodie that tips the hubby into upgrading.

Brandie

Go ahead and upgrade! You know you want to. (Plus, I need someone to talk to at the concierge reception! :))

Do tell! How do I go about getting a land concierge???? And how in the world did you get escorted off the ship?
We're you in trouble? :rotfl2:
Seriously though, did they escort you at the end of the cruise or was it when you docked at the ports of call? It sounds so exciting. I would be tickled pink if that happened to us. It's so not the way my days usually unfold. :laundy: :stir: :car:

I am glad someone said how poor the conceirge services has gotten. We have been on the Magic several times. We were on last month and they friendly but not helpful. They gave us bad or wrong information several times. They should deal with the other departments for you but every time I complained about something, they just had that department contact me directly. By the end of the cruise it was just annoying (no food goodies really except the first night of the 12 nights).

Was this on the Magic?
Please don't tell me it was Sandie and Arnaldo? They were sooooo wonderful to us. We were in awe of the professionalism and outstanding service they provided :worship: I would be very open to booking my trip when they are working if that's possible to find out. They are really special people.

We were category 3 and permitted to order from all restaurants.

When we were in a cat 3 last September, the way the room service worked was, we were allowed to order from whatever restaurant we were schedule for that night, not from any restaurant on any night. So, if we were scheduled for Animator's that night, we could order only from their menu that night.

I think Cat 1 and 2 can order from any restaurant, any menu, any night.

We have had very good and very bad concierge service. It seems to depend on who the team is. We have a Cat 3 for a 4 night in Dec and hope the concierge team is improved by then. Do they have any kind on concierge reception on the 4 night, like they do on the 7?

What type of wrong info did you receive from them? Disney should have a lounge like RC does, so you have access to them rather than leaving a message. Also then if you want the snacks or drinks you can get them when available. RC had games and DVDs there for you to take back--it reminded me of what some hotels have.

If you email Disney with your reservation number etc, they will have concierge respond back to you and they then give you all the info to contact them directly next time.

When we got to a port, we just told our concierge we wanted to leave the ship at blah blah blah time and they came and got us and took us down and we didn't wait in the line to get off the ship. We didn't do this on the last day but we did get a baggage guy and walked through customs that way... you just need to have one person walk over by the door and grab the guy when he comes in and bring him to your party and bags. tipped a couple bucks a bag and out the door we went.

Yes, there is a concierge reception on the Wonder. Sadly, on the 3-night it was the same time as the castaway club reception. I went to the CC reception and the rest of the family went to the concierge reception.

I had more fun at the CC reception even though I know the food is better at the concierge reception.

I think its safe to assume that the team that is aboard the Wonder right now will be on break by December. Yeah, I wasn't overly impressed by the concierge team I had last month.

We have a midship Cat 3 booked on the Magic, Suite 8534. The posts about the noise level have me kind of worried. Is it really that bad? When you say a white noise machine, what did you bring? Would a small fan work? How bad is it really?

Thanks

PS

What is the veranda furniture like?

Thanks

Yes it was the Magic. No it wasn't Sandie and Arnaldo.

Someone else asked what type of wrong information. For example they gave us the wrong day for Tea with Alice so we missed out. They were asked several times to help us get a time for the Mickey breakfast (because we had a conflict with our normal time). They said no problem. Told us a time that was 1/2 hour after it started and we still didn't have a table. The "special tendering" invovled us walking the entire length of the ship TWICE as we kept missing a tender even though they claimed they called ahead. I could go on and on. The above to me seemed basic requests that we had never had any trouble with before. I won't even tell you how our "special" requests turned out.

Out of curiousity, did you complain and/or report your experiences? I ask because we've cruised DCL concierge a couple of times with another for Christmas (yes, we're spoiled by the suite and ruined forever) - and while I wouldn't say the concierge team was camping outside of our door begging to find ways to assist us, they were responsive to our requests and available when we needed them. If I had experienced what you did, I'd be thoroughly irritated! I would think that they don't get too many complaints about Concierge, so hopefully they take them very seriously when they do!

Yes we gave feedback. We have been before so it was that much more disappointing. They tried a new pre-cruise conceirge which turned out to be even worse and more stressful (trying to get things worked before). The truth is DCL can fill the suites 20 times over they are so popular so I look at like the other folks - we like the bigger room and if we get more than that great. We had fun I just wouldn't expect to have great service. I heard the new ships have more suites and are set up with a special area. If we can book on that we'll try again. NCL for me next summer though. :-) I have done the Mexico route last time DCL was in LA.
