What events on New Years Eve?

I was wondering what special events might be taking place in the parks on New Year's Eve. This will be our first trip to DL and DCA and we're trying to plan which park to spend New Year's in. Are there special fireworks or parades? I know the parks are open later that night but we don't really know what to expect except large crowds.

If your the type of person who loves to be were the action is then main street USA 8pm till midnight is the place for you!! mainstreet is completly packed with party animals they play music and do fireworks at 9 for walt disney worlds new year and every hour after till midnight when they take every extra fireowrk they can find over the last year and shoot it up in a glorious form If not so big on crowds DCA is were u go they do a fireworks show off paradise pier havent actually gone to see this fireworks show but i heard it was good. Your choice also that night theres 3 fantasmics 9, 10:30, and 12:05 and park is open till 2am 1am for dca

I would disagree about the best place to be is on Main Street, however we do stay in DL. I don't like being in the middle of the crowds where you can't breath. I prefer the music and entertianment at Small world, over that at the castle, and you really aren't missing much. One thing I love is that over the past several years, rather than making the castle the main place to be they have different areas with different types of music. Small world is usually radio disney/NY Rockin Eve, and they do live cut throughs to NY all night. We usually tape it so we can see it at home. Last year they had some good shots of our daughter dancing with Goofy. They have stuff over at rivers of america, and in tomorrowland. Each area has it's own type of music so you can just go where you are comfortable. Fireworks are at the regular time with snow, and then again at Midnight. They make a big todo at 9, then make and hourly announcement till Midnight.

While I've been in DCA on NYE, I've never been there late, we are always at DL at midnight. They give out hats and horns. Usually starting around 7 or 8. Don't get in line to get them, just wait a while, and you can walk right up. People start lining up, but as the evening goes on, it's just walk up.

Do they give out hats and horns at DCA? We have spent New Year's Eve twice at DL and thought we might bring the new year in at DCA this year.

Yes the do. The first couple years DCA was open, they gave out different ones. The past years they have changed it so that they are the same.
