For USA's 200th Brithday Both DL and WDW celebrated in a BIG way. Both DL and WDW had one of the most memorable parades in their history, that celebrated the Bicentennial with larger than life characters. AND DL even got an Early Start in Celebrating the bicentenntial with an attraction that had more audio animatronic characters, in DL history, with Marc Davis, with his own uniques flair for humor letting us experience history of music in the USA, as it had never been done before, when "America Sings" opened in 1974!
When America Sings closed, we were fortunate to have Tony Baxter find a new home for most of these wonderful audio animatronic animals, that each had such a wonderfully musical personality. Tony gave these entertainers a wonderfull laughing place, and an academy award winning song that let us all sing along about a wonderful day. This new attraction honored the legacy and imagination of Walt Disney and also brought to mind the talented James Baskett.
The America Sings characters are celebrating their 50th birthday this summer, and it would sure be mighty satisfactual to have them entertain us once again.
So what DOES Disney have planned for celebrating the USAs '250th birthday? Will it be bigger and better than what they accomplished for the 200th in 1976?
