This FTP is causing me to re think my plans.

Now for part of our trip we want to stay in DTD so we can walk over to DTD, for shopping etc. I know they are further then they look on the map. We will have a car, but don't want to deal with the hassel of it, it would be easier to walk.

TIA

The answer depends on how much of a walker you are. For me, I think I could do it from all of them. I have done it from as far as the BW Lake Buena, & Courtyard By Marriott.....and I am not a walker if that helps you any. I found it to me be much easier to walk than to deal with the traffic & finding a parking spot in the lots! It is no worse than going to the parks & walking for the entire day LOL!!!

I think the Wyndham, Hilton and Grosvenor are the closest hotels. They are right at the intersection across from DTD... they wouldn't be more than a 5 minute walk. Sometimes waiting for the crossing signal to come up can take a while... I don't know how long it takes to walk from the hotels, I've heard that its about a 10 minute walk from the Courtyard.

We will be staying at the Hawthorn Suites LBV, is that far from DTD?

For anyone who has stayed at Hawthorn, Can you see the fireworks that they have at PI every night at midnight?

We just stayed at the Courtyard at Marriott and walked to DTD several times. It's a nice walk and took maybe five minutes. Hilton is closer but not by much. Most of the hotels have buses that pick up from pleasure island at night and take you back to your hotel.

How did you like the Courtyard? Were the rooms and grounds ok? I read somewhere that the rooms and common areas were kinda bland and not that great.

I'm trying to decide between there and AS Sports. I need two rooms (6 of us) and with Courtyard's special I can get 2 rooms each night for what 1 AS room will cost.

While I would love to stay on-site, saving a few bucks for a room we won't spend much time in anyway always helps. I wish room-only codes would come out for Sept.

We stayed at the BWLBV last September. Wonderful walk to DTD, maybe fifteen minutes to the West Side?

The grounds at courtyard at Marriott are well kept. The employees were very nice. The rooms are nothing special but they are clean and bigger than allstars. We've stayed at music and movies. I didn't think being off site would make any difference but once we were there we changed our minds. It just didn't seem the same. But I would still pick the Courtyard over allstars if it saves you money. We weren't at the hotel much at all. The walk to DTD was nice and we went there every night. I do like the balcony and the pool area was nice . Also had a hot tub. Every afternoon the manager has a reception in the lobby with free popcorn, drinks, etc. We had free breakfast with our room and ate at the resturant every morning - the breakfast buffet was very good. The bus service was fair - fortunately the Courtyard is the second stop (I think) and we always got seats, but by the time we made the last stop there were always people standing. We never rode the bus back as we went to a resort and caught the DTD bus back. It was fun seeing some of the resorts that way. My goal is to stay at the Wilderness Lodge - that place is gorgeous! Even if the Allstars comes out with some really great room only rates for Sept. we'll still go to CYM - it is a real bargain at $20.03. I'd rather spend the extra money on other things! :D

One other thing we enjoyed - there was a free shuttle from CYM to the Lake Buena Vista Outlet Stores. We did that one afternoon.
