Im interested (read Nosey !!) to find out what it is about wdw that draws us back year after year !!
Ten years ago if someone had told me we would want to return to the same place on holiday over and over again id have laughed at them and yet now if we could go to wdw evry month id jump at the chance :lmao:

For us its the look on the kids faces for the full 14 days they are so relaxed and as a family we have the most relaxing fortnight that its worth every penny.

So what is it that draws you guys back ???

For us it is the only place that we alll enjoy and meets our expectations and more everytime.

We love it as we are not beach sitting people. We like being active and Florida is certainly that:rotfl:

I don't live nearly as far as you do, but for me as we walk off the plane and head over to the magical express, I can feel all my stress just melting away. My girls and I have such an amazing time in Disney...I hate the thought of coming home. The first time I was on the disboards I thought people where crazy when they were talking about their second home...I totally understand that now. To have us together as a family...no stress...able to relax...and have a good time...I just love it. If only now I could find a way to keep my girls young a little longer....

Oh... such a long list... lets see:

1) Weather
2) Service (American people complain... if they saw our service they would die :rotfl2:)
3) Transport - Private cabs, shuttles are good.
4) Cleanliness. People who complain of trash in the parks have never been to Middlesbrough.
5) Rides - especially simulators.
6) The ambience.
7) The food - not the best, but just different enough without being strange.
8) The dollar - was anyway... hopefully the rate will be better in '12 (next trip)
9) Something for everyone.
10) Pools in which I can bathe knowing I will never have to see anyone else in it again. (I have psoriasis. Results in a lot of self conciousness. I can shed this in Orlando.)

Just 10 of my reasons.

Oh, some circumstances. 18 M, 22yo DS, 40+ parents.

We still love it! Which brings me to no. 11.

11) YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO BE A KID! :rotfl:

Before we went I said I never wanted to go, didn't do theme parks or rides. I also said we wouldn't keep going back to same place as there are so many places to see in the world.
Once we went we saw there was no-where else we would rather go. After 23 or 24 trips still not seen everything, we have friends we visit and still exploring new areas.
I won't drive anywhere else abroad after a bad experience in Tenerife but love driving in America so its the only place we are free to explore and not tied to 1 resort or excursions.
Another thing is food, when we used to go on a beach holiday in Spain or Greece and we always ate hotel food half board, meals in Florida/US are a totally different class, still not eaten everywhere we want to.
Luckily we can afford to goto different places as well as Florida but just now we find everytime it comes to booking something we look at other options but still book Florida flights, next may we are considering Alaskan cruise but I get the feeling it will be Florida again.:goodvibes

my autistic son is normal.
anyone with asd in the family will understand.

There is so much we still want to see and do and never seem to have enough time to get it all done.
Where else can a grown man join a queue to have a photo with a big mouse and it be considered normal behaviour.
I feel like I can act like a big kid without being judged as most people around me are acting exactly the same way :goodvibes

I guess one of the big things for me is that oh so hard to define "florida feeling".

I always feel so comfortable and chilled there, like I belong there :lmao:

We love relaxing and the odd day on the beach but couldnt really do two whole weeks without other things to do (forthcoming trip to Jamaica excluded!) and Florida fits the bill perfectly.

We are lucky enough to be able to go to other places, but I would hate to think that the last time, really was the last time - if you see what I mean :rotfl:

I can't go every year - partly because of the cost and partly because we don't want to.

It is, however, the only holiday destination that I've visited 4 times.

What I enjoy is the total relaxation - the smiles - the sunshine - the lack of self consiousness - plenty of things to do - and I'm sure there are lots more.

Lovely thread idea! I don't know where to start - I always said I would want to go lots of different places too - now I only go somewhere to get away on a non-Florida year!!

I love having the car and knowing where everything is. That is why the bug didn't bite till my second visit - I hated the thought of getting lost.

I love the parks and am a sucker for the magic - the views, the smells, the characters, the rides, the food!!

Paddling at 11pm with my daughter, laughing our heads off, without a care in the world. :lovestruc

Like the rest of you, I have more than one reason.

After a horrendous divorce it was the first holiday I took my DD on. Somehow in all the stress and cares of the preceding years I had "lost" myself and had this idea that I was incapable of being any kind of fun. Then we arrived in Disney :yay: It is sentimental to me in a way because I instantly felt like the "old me" again. It also created an incredible new bond between DD and I - young as she was, it heralded an upward turn for us. Not that we had ever not had a good relationship, but I think from my side the fun factor was sorely missing.

Travelling alone with a child, I feel safe there.

There is plenty for both of us and we now try and do at least one different thing every day when we are there.

I love the food - weird, since as another poster pointed out, nothing spectacular, but it tastes so good over there ;)

With DDs allergy dining is also easier there than anywhere else and anyone dealing with dietary issues will appreciate the stress this eliminates.

The sun - oh my beloved sunshine! :lmao: I say no more, except that swimming in an outdoor pool is "real swimming" to me.

Shopping. :yay:

Meeting people. Everyone (just about) is in the same frame of mind since they are all on holiday and it does facilitate easy friendly conversations.

No two trips are the same. Every visit, age and stage brings something new and special.

I will just add that I am very very thankful that I am able to go to Disney. For many it remains a far off dream that remains impossible.

-wearing shorts/t-shirt/flip-flops from the moment you get up 'til bedtime.
-Wildlife
-cars
-food
-wide open roads
-white sand beaches
-parking spaces
-the detail of Disney
-fireworks and music at the parks
-the pace of life
-guaranteed weather almost every day of the year.

I guess we have similar reasons to most people:

- The weather and the fact it makes my wardrobe choice that much easier :)
- We like being relatively active on holiday, not just laying on a beach
- Good choice of food that is still close enough to home for the kids to enjoy, and the opportunity for us adult to enjoy a wide range of options at the same time
- Amazing service, particularly at Disney
- Gorgeous locations and theming of the resorts and parks
- Thrill rides! - even better now I can start to share them with DS(7)…DW never been a big fan
- Brilliant pools, slides and water rides - children love 'em
- Shopping - although this was undoubtedly more fun when the exchange rate was better…

Best thing of all though is the ability for us to be a family 24x7 with no work or other distractions to get in the way. It's such a positive environment to spend time in, and I really find that rubs off on us too, which is no bad thing.

Finally…my DD(5) has just woken up after a bad dream, and the easiest thing in the world to get her back to sleep was talking about our next holiday in a few months time and her meeting the princesses once again. She laid down, smile on her face, and said 'I love going to Disney daddy, it's my best place' :) Just popped in to check on her, and she's sleeping like a baby once again.

So we've only been to WDW as adults once, but we know that was the first trip of many! With the next one booked and the following lined up to take our first child (if I don't slip in a trip Feb 2012 if AP rates come out that is) it's safe to say people are going to spend years asking us: "don't you want to go somewhere else?"

We love it for loads of reasons:

- Knowing that for the 2 or 3 weeks you're there every day will be happy, pleasant and fun. A lot of trips we've booked I am nervous in advance as to if the hotel will be ok, and how will we get from the airport, and will it be safe to go out - with Disney none of those issues exist! Literally all I have to worry about is that my plane will be on time and that my view will be OK.
- The weather
- Amazing rides, shows and scenery
- Beautiful hotels to spend your down time in
- Everyone is so friendly, you can spend 2 weeks chatting to strangers and meeting new people. I really enjoyed some of our Bus/Queue chats.
- What other holiday can you have this much planning fun?!

Definitely the amazing array of different rides. Where else could you go and be dropped in an elevator one minute and then watch briliant shows.

Even my DW is starting to enjoy it - I think?

My reasons for going back:

- The Disney experience. The rides, music, shows, resorts, dining... I just love everything about it.
- The weather. Let's face it, we don't get much sun in the UK! It's nice to get some warmth and sunshine.
- The people. Everyone over there is so friendly and helpful. I really do feel like I'm a very welcome visitor.
- The shopping. Regular malls, outlet malls, Walmart... I'm not fussy! :rotfl:

With us it was purely safety. When my neph was two and a half my sister and I started to go to Orlando and found that when we stayed onsite we felt perfectly safe with him as it was the family atmosphere that we loved.

We always have fun and over the years we find that we relax alot more now so instead of rushing around parks like headless chickens, we take it easy.

The MAGIC......my son, then 5, telling everyone that the fireworks was tinkerbells pixi dust.....my DD5, on our last trip, truly believing she was a princess....chip and dale loving her dress and the CH asking to take a picture of it for C&D....Anistasia @ 1900 PF taking her hand and sitting on the floor with her for 10mins, chatting about dresses and cats, then telling her to stand on her chair so everyone can see the mini Anistasia.................

The list goes on, I just wish we could go every year as the memories are priceless!!!!!

I'm going to make mine just WDW centred, rather than Orlando/the US in general: The atmosphere, the magic, the rides, that familiar feeling of being 'home', the snacks and the fact that when I next go it'll be my bf's first trip and I can't wait to show him around :goodvibes :lovestruc :wizard:
