What does your tween daughter (ages 10-12) want for Christmas?

My question is - what accessories can we get them and where? I was thinking speakers or clock, in addition to case. But which ones, what else?

Thanks:dance3:

An accessory with docking/recharging capability is a must. DD10 used her birthday money in September to get an iHome desk lamp that also served as a dock to recharge her iPod. The reason I recommend this is because kids are really hard on the docking/sync cable that comes with the iPod and while you can wait a bit to buy a new sync cable, having the charge run out isn't something you can wait for. :goodvibes

WalMart has some great deals on iHome stuff, as does Target and Amazon.com. If you live near a Five Below, they've got a few things too. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

DD 13 asked for clothes, clothes, and mabye some clothes... we went to the mall this weekend and I made her do a VERY SPECIFIC list, including sizes, store, colors.. she is tooo picky (just like her mom!! ME) so I had to go this route.. me and DH will go shopping in two weeks and be done with it all! woo hoo!!

Mine never cared for dolls much. I would gladly spend the $$$ on AG stuff if she was interested!!!

Mine only asked for Harry Potter stuff.

What I have so far:
special charm (HP)on a silver chain
HP glowing book light
HP tree ornament
HP Scene It game

Aero clothes
some spa treatment stuff
pajama pants
marshmallow shooter (so she can defend herself against her brother:laughing:, who is getting one)

And the big thing......Universal passes to WWofHP!!!

When I was in middle school, someone threw a marshmallow at me when we were at the bus stop. Not knowing what it was, I turned, tripped, fell and BROKE MY ARM.

DD10 was adopted when she was 3 days old. Her father told her she was a gift from heaven. So for years she thought she just floated down to us because her middle name is Angel. Now that she understands adoption and knows that there are many many kids waiting for families. She thinks you goto a store and just pick out the kid you want. I keep trying to tell her it just isn't that easy and we don't have the funds to adopt again. She is soo funny.

My 2 little ones are adopted. They recently started the who's belly was I in question. They also believe that you go shopping for kids. My 5 year old said to my husband the other day........when I grow up, I will be Dad and you will be grand-pa. My husband said that this is true....he asked my husband to come shopping with him for his baby LOL!

Totally OT but I loved the story and had to add a comment from my youngest (all 3 are adopted also). We were talking to a new mom with a brand new baby in her arms, and ds asks her "where did you get him from?":goodvibes

DD10 Christmas stuff

ipod - upgrading her shuffle to a refurbished pink nano
DS games
Disney shirt and bracelet
Disney violin music
itunes gift card

Her birthday is just after Christmas and she will be getting a cell (one of my old ones) and some AG stuff

;) Both my tween girls also WANT cell phones, ipods, and laptops for Christmas.... BUT they know it will never happen in our home! They did not bother ask for these items :thumbsup2
I'm starting to feel like an alien but heres the deal in our home: They already have their own desktops in an area we can moniter usage and will not recieve laptops until college because saftey blocks do FAIL- happened to DD11 this summer! They own very nice MP3 players, not ipods and will receive cell phones in HS. They can borrow our prepaid kid cell phone as needed for sleepovers and trips until then. We also do not allow television in bedrooms- so we're just outright freaks. Now I'm done hijacking the thread. LOL!

I completely agree with you also! I am NOT shocked at all by what the kids are asking for, BUT I am extremely speechless that so many parents are giving in to what their kids want! Cellphones, Ipod touch, laptop, webcams?? really... they NEED all these things as a tween? What the heck are you going to get them at 16?? Well I guess when my kids come home, saying that they are the ONLY ones who don't have these thing, it will be true....

Our dd who is 12 almost 12 & 1/2 by Christmas has asked for the IPOD touch but we are not too keen on the idea of the internet capabilities! I know when she's on the internet at home because she's on her laptop, you know what I mean? What are you guys' thoughts on this subject about the Touch having the internet? She said if she can't get the Touch can she get a NANO which we were going to get her but I would like to get her the Touch but just a little weary I guess b/c of the internet thing!!

My dd is 10 and I think she is too young for a touch. She honestly does not need such an advanced piece of hardware like that. I personally view it for maybe an older teen (16) and above but as with all things, you have to decide what is best in your household. I plan to buy myself a touch for Christmas and my dd will be more than welcome to play whatever free games/apps I have on it while I'm with her otherwise she can listen to music on her nano. I have a laptop that she has no interest in. She uses our desktop (in the living room) for schoolwork or to play games/listen to music/videos and is quite content with that.

Just a general reminder to all: Let's try to keep this thread non-judgmental please. :flower3: Some children need their laptops for school. There is a school program here that gives each child in their gifted program a netbook to aid them in the projects and assignments that are required. Some children may be involved in afterschool activities, may come home alone, etc and the parents feel more secure that they have a cellphone to reach them and be reached, and some parents just want to give their kids what they want. We can't tell people what to do in their own homes. I may not agree with everything but I sure do love reading these wish lists!
:hippie:

I don't have much to add other than what's already been mentioned. My DD10 is getting:

iPod Nano (in blue!)
iTunes gift card
Disney gift card to spend on our Christmas trip

she is also asking for clothes from Justice or JCP
and fake Uggs (already purchased with her from JCP)

and she and DS12 are getting 3 Wii games together with an extra controller & wheel as a joint gift

(DS12 is also getting a digital camera, Madden NFL 10 for the Wii, a new baseball gear bag, Disney & iTunes gift cards... not sure what else).

Thanks for the replies! In our household my DH and I have different views/opinions where the IPOD touch is concerned so I was wondering what you guys were thinking along those lines!! I think we're going to stick with the Nano for now! Thanks again!!

Question for everyone: What Wii games do you find that your girls enjoy? I just bought her wii this morning from Target and I bought the Carnival game from amazon.com. I think that with the wii sports is a good start.

My 10 year old DD LOVES mario cart, so much she wants it for her DS too. She likes My Sims too, the kid ones not the "adult" ones.

She's asked for the Wii Resort, ICarliy and the new Zoo one.

We have the Carnival one and she likes to play that with us but not alone.

Hope that helps.

Michelle

My 10 year old has a short list but that is because she already has the Hollister, AC and Justice clothes, a cell phone and we just bought her a new bike.

Zhu Zhu Pets - Got all of these off Ebay since I couldn't find them in any store!
New Laptop - Just picked up a mini Purple one, so she will be excited
Candy Jewelry maker - got at Target
Toy Story Mania for Wii - got at Target

That is all for now...I am sure in a week or two she will want something else! LOL

Thanks Michelle! I have been looking at Mario Cart, it sure looks like fun. I'm going to look into the others in case family want to buy her some games.

My girls, dd10 and dd8, really like Mario Kart....for that fact, I like it a lot myself! DD8 also enjoys Wii fit, wii ski, wii cheer. DD10 enjoys cooking mama, wii cheer, wii sports, HSM dance thing, Outdoor Challenge, Disney Sing it.

They are asking for Wii sports resort. I also love Dance, dance revolution but the girls have just started on it and say that it is a bit hard for them

DD who is 10

- Our Generation doll (Target) - this was the one she asked for not AG (thank goodness) - I also got the bathtub and the clothes trunk with outfits and shoes.

- AG Licorice the cat

- 2 PS2 games

- nintendo gameboy color (used) and 8 games to go with it

she'll also get some little things like boardgames and stocking stuffers.

I will also take her to see a movie of her choice during the christmas break (this is treat for her because we don't normally go to the movies.) And we took her to Hersheypark, Chocolate World and Sweetlights yesterday (thanks to whomever posted the buy1 get1 free email a few weeks ago) :thumbsup2

Any of the Raving Rabbids games are a hit when kids have friends over. They can jump around to the funniest mini games. If you do a lot of playdates, take a look at this one! :goodvibes

Mario Kart is awesome!

Our 12 yo dd (turns 13 right before Christmas) has asked for
Birthday
AG Doll- Chrissa (bought)
AG Rebecca books (bought)
Clothes- she didnt care where they came from as long as they were cute- her sister works at Vanity and one of our former foster children works at Ross so we bought clothing both those places
IPOD Nano- Green (Grandma bought)

For Christmas
Itunes Gift Card (will buy)
Legos-(will probably buy)
Sims Points for Sims 3 (will buy)
Taylor Swift Tickets- tried but they were sold out
Scrubs for work (bought)
Holiday PJ's (will buy bf)
The Vampire Diaries books (not sure if I will buy or not since I have not read them, not sure if they are age appropriate)
DS Game (bought)
Supernatural Season 4 (bought)
A Supernatural poster (bought)

I guess she is in the minority not wanting a laptop. She and her 16 year old sister were both offered laptops last spring but wanted a gaming pc instead.

I am very proud of my both my DD's this year. Their lists have 3 things on them. They both asked for cell phones (husbend has not been willing up until this year) but the request I am the proudest of is: Adoption of a wild animal though WWF. My DD12 asked for the wolf and my DD11 asked for the manatee. I quess having a tree hugger as a mother is rubbing off!:thumbsup2
