What does your choice of resort theme say about you?

My favorite resort is CBR - I like the tropical feeling, I love summer, hot weather and the beach, so it suits me. I feel like I have two vacations in one, a tropical island resort and the Disney parks all in one.

I would love to stay at the Polynesian, but since I need two rooms (teenage girls and bathrooms, lol), it's not affordable to me right now.

In a way I think this makes perfect sense! I am "afraid" to stay at WL due to the fact that even though I have eaten there twice, I am "afraid" that once in a room I'll be able to smell that dank musty cabin smell from up north!

I have GF issues, due to the fact I live in a victorian town in a farm house/victorian that after 16 years I currently hate to live in! (thus, issues!)Yes, we thought we wanted to live in a quaint house with all its features. What you forget is it is a never ending project that starts sucking the life out of you and you end up having to take extra Disney trips! LOL On the other hand, I'd LOVE to live in the lobby and listen to the live music while partaking in the best scones in the western hemisphere!

Loving the Swan/Dolphin made sense to me, with their extra comforts. Falling completely in love with AKL didn't. I had no idea I had this thing for Africa! I knew I had a love for animals, but ankole cattle? Who knew?! LOL If I could get away with it I'd rip this whole house I'm living in apart and make it totally African themed ala AKL. Unfortunately, I think that would kill the resale value and the plan is to move in the next year! Soooo welcome to my Disney/AKL/toured well living room!

Loving Pop shows my sense of the dollar and feeling good about getting a great deal!

This was a fun thread to read!

We started at the values because when our DS's were little the over the top themeing was perfect for them but now that they are teenagers we are stuck in POFQ or POR because of both my DH and my southern roots. We live in PA now but long to see the southern charm we were exposed to a kids. I guess in a way it says that as we, DH and I, are getting older we like the slower paced and quietness of these resorts compared to the rush around constant stimulation you encounter at the Values. Still if we ever had a little one again I am sure we would be right back at the Values. princess:

I like to be in the middle of the action and that is why I love stay at the 60s bldg facing the Hippy Dippy pool. I think I am vibrant and fun and very much into Disney and that is why I love POP and the ASMo. They are very Disney and the atmosphere has vibrant colors and the atmosphere is just fun.

Though I have yet to stay at the Poly, I have stayed at the Royal Pacific many times. The South Pacific theme fits me very well. I love the themeing. I love the island feel. I love the tropical atmosphere and I am a tropical kind of gal. I'm an islander who wants to learn hula!

I am quiet and I can be shy and I like intimate small getherings, I am romantic and that is why I like POFQ. It is quaint and small resort which makes it more intimate and yet it is a fun resort.

I am not an outdorsy camping winter type of girl, but however I wouldn't mind staying at the WL because I know there are no bugs in the bldg, and it is very cozy. It makes you feel like you're camping, but without actually camping and I like that a lot. I love the nature. And staying at the WL has the natural beauty the nature has to offer.

I like the southwest style housing. It is very different from what we have here in the midwest. The southwest style reminds me that I am in a warm place where there is no winter. And that is why I love CSR.

Mine says I could get a code rate and a room was available with a hint of I'm a cheapskate because even with a code the most I can bear to spend is a moderate!

My favorite is CSR- a variety of themes and a deluxey resort for a mod price!!!!!

Actually, a themed hotel of alot of different European countries would be fun. I always wished I could stay "upstairs" in Germany or Morrocco at EPCOT!!!!

That's a terrific idea! :Pinkbounc I would totally stay in a France- or England-themed hotel. (Oo! The France hotel rooms could be themed like Parisian artists' garrets, and the England hotel could be like a thatched-roof B&B or a castle with a moat!) Morocco or Japan would be neat too.

The first time we went to WDW, we stayed at ASMo, which I think says that we wanted the whole Disney experience (not to mention, we're cheap!). This time I picked POFQ. I have no desire to actually go to New Orleans (no offense to anyone from NOLA), but the idea of New Orleans appeals to me. Looking forward to it! :)

My stays mean:

Disney Institute Villas/FW Cabins = My parent's paid!
POP Century = I paid!

That should explain the difference in pricing! ;)

I like to try new places even when I'm happy with where I've stayed in the past. I like new experiences and a little adventure!

We can't seem to want to stay anywhere else. We visited others but the CBR just fills the desire of having two vacations in one. We always go in the late summer and so it's hot and humid so it just feels like you're in the Caribbean. We don't need a larger more elaborate room because we are hardly in it. I like to grounds and the price of the CBR.

WL is my favorite; it's "MY" idea of camping! ;) I love it because the lobby is grand, and the atmosphere is in some way calming. It's a fun place. When we were there two weeks ago, we were walking through the lobby and at Whispering Canyon all the men were in a cirlce singing "I'm a little teapot."

Only one week back, and I miss it already.

I suppose our resort choice says we're POOR! We just returned from a stay at Pop (wonderful, by the way) but would I have stayed at the Poly instead if I could have afforded it? You betcha!!!

We always tease our kids that their idea of camping is staying in a hotel that doesn't have a pool :rotfl2: Our stays at the Poly concierge, and upcoming BWI and Poly concierge say that I want to be pampered when I am on vacation. Anything that doesn't remind me of home, with concierge service sounds good to me! That may be why I have resisted staying at the GF so far, even though it's gorgeous, we live in a Victorian kind of town and it does kind of remind me of home.

We stayed at CBR, then POFQ, next month we'll be back at CBR. If that means I'd rather be on vacationing the banks of the Saine, drinking French roasted coffee in the shadow of Notre Dame I'd say you hit it right on the head. Like I always say, if you can't afford to go to Europe, go to EPCOT. Sad to say but I'm a European Junkie. Hoping Disney will feed the need!

Good question :)

My husband and I LOVE Coronado Springs. We like it because it's quiet, has a relaxed atmosphere, and we think that since it's a conference resort, it's geared more towards adults. We aren't all "awwwwwww look at the little kids" kind of people. We just are kid people. We like the CSR because the time we have spent there, there wasn't a lot of screaming kids crying and running around wild- NOT THAT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN- it's just not the norm when we have been there.

Why do we go to WDW if we don't like kids? Why does anyone go to Disney- usually because they love it, so please don't flame me :) :) :)

We aren't really Southwest kind of people, so it's not really the decor that draws us there. It's just the all around atmosphere :)
