Hi all we just booked a 1brm at OKW for a three night stay. I didn't want to stay at OKW because we won't have a car and I was afraid of how large the resort is. But it is our only choice right now and the CM said he got us a villa "near the hospitality house". What does this mean? Is there certain buildings that are closer? How will I know that I actually got that category (like at BWV I would know if I didn't get a Boardwalk view!).

Thank for any information. Now I have to go find out more about the resort! Oh is there a refillable mug station at the main pool? How about a quick service food? Trying to decide if we need a food delivery! Thanks!

Getting excited to try OKW for the first time!

We just got back from OKW a few weeks ago. From what I understand, buildings 11,12,13,14,62&63 are considered Hospitality House. I was in building 18 which was a short walk to the Hospitality House. I did not have an issue with the walk at all. I would say about a 7 minute walk most. If your ressie is designated HH, then that is what you should get. I would bring your confirmation with you at check in.

As for a refilable mug station, I believe there is one right near the pool area along with a quick service for breakfast and burgers, salads, hot dogs etc.

There are limited items in the gift shop as far as groceries. I did not look extensively since we drove and brought some groceries with us. Most of the foods are processed so if you are looking for meats, veggies or a variety of fruit, I'd order groceries from We-Go Shop or Garden Grocer.

Have a great trip!!!

The "near hospitality house" buildings are 11 to 14 and 23 to 26. They do not include 62 to 64 even though they are actually closer than 23 to 26. I think it was because they are the only buildings with elevators and they want to have them available for medical reasons.

If you're in the HH booking category in a 1 b/r, keep in mind that all access to the bathroom is through the MBR.

here is a map

debbieb is correct.

the reason that I think - you have a crosswalk for building 23-26 to get to the HH are (front desk, library, community hall, restuarants, gift shops, main swimming pool, tennis court, basketball, gym bike and boat rentals)

62-64 don't have one.

besides they have a lovely view of the HH area.

What:confused3 Do you know why the 1bdrm in those buildings don't have access to the bathroom through the laundry room? Weird. Are you saying if I booked a 1bdrm without the HH category it would be different?

It's based on the unit design. About halfway through the phased construction they changed the design to allow direct access to the bath through the laundry. I'm not sure the exact building number where the design change occurred but I'm pretty sure it's after 26.

Thanks, Dean. I never knew that bit of information. I don't suppose it will make too much difference. Thanks for the information.

And thanks everyone for helping me out to understand this!

Getting excited to give OKW a try.

We stayed in a 1BR in Bldg 14 last trip. LOVED IT! We said we'd always request the HH area from now on. It was great being so close to the pool, store, restaurants, etc. We had a nice golf course view too. DH had spring training games to attend so he'd take the car and I'd take the youngest DS over to Goods to Go for lunch. Nice to just cross the street. It can get busy trafficwise in the area so you just have to watch for cars & buses.

I think we were the last pickup & dropoff for the buses generally. We don't take the buses much except to MK. But I can't remember ever having to stand on a bus last trip.

Yes, the master bath only had one entrance. It's right when you walk into the master BR so it's not really like you have to physically walk through the bedroom. I guess they were designing the villas thinking families would stay there so privacy wouldn't be that big of a deal. It's just us and our 2 boys so we didn't care. I'd take the proximity to HH over a little privacy any day. But that's just me. We've stayed in Turtle Pond and Millers Road prior to staying near HH. We preferred the HH location but you'll hear lots on this board who don't. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Buildings 30 and higher have the 2nd access to the bathroom in the 1BRs. As Dean noted, none of the "Hospitality House" villas have that configuration, but 62 - 64 , which are certainly very "near" do have the 2nd access thru the laundry room.

:rotfl2:WE JUST CAME BACK AND HAD A GREAT LOCATION AT PENNISULAR AT OKW. WE LOVE OKW.
WE HAD A BIT OF A PROBLEM WITH THE 2 BR WITH THE 1 DOOR TO LAUNDRY. WE WERE USED TO 2 DOORS TO MASTERBATHROOM THRU LAUNDRY. THE PROBLEM WE HAD WAS WITH THE SINGLE DOOR TO LAUNDRY. DW LOADED UP THE LAUNDRY IN WASHER AND DRYER, IT WAS POURING RAIN WHEN WE WERE OUT JUST BEFORE MAR BREAK. OUR SHOES AND SOME OF OUR CLOTHES WERE WET. SOOOOOO THE WET STUFF INCLUDING MOST OF THE SHOES WERE PUT IN LAUNDRYROOM FOR THE DRYER. DW CAME OUT AFTER LOADING DRYER AND SHUT THE DOOR. WELL IF YOU LOOK IN THAT ROOM THERE IS A HALF DOOR RIGHT BESIDE THE REGULAR LAUNDRY DOOR. IT HAS NO HANDLE BUT HAS A LOCK, THE FURNACE AIR UNIT I THINK IS BEHIND IT. I GUESS MAINTENANCE FORGOT TO LOCK IT, AS DW SHUT OTHER DOOR THAT DOOR SLIGHTLY OPENED FROM THE VACUUM EFFECT OF CLOSING THE OTHER DOOR. WE COULDNT OPEN THE MAIN DOOR TO GET BACK IN. THERE ARE NO WINDOWS OR OTHER ACCESS TO THAT ROOM. I CALLED FRONT DESK , THEY WERE GOING TO SEND MAINTENANCE. IT TOOK A COUPLE HOURS IN THE MEANTIME WE WANTED TO GO OUT, SO WE PUT ON WHAT EVER EXTRA SHOES WE BROUGHT. IT WAS OPEN BY THE TIME WE GOT BACK THAT EVENING. JUST A WARNING WATCH OUT WHEN SHUTTING THAT DOOR MAKE SURE THE OTHER DOOR IS SECURE:rotfl2:
