A particular person in my family has had this said to him several times over the past few years.
What exactly do people mean when they say you hve the heart of a lion?

It means you are brave and fearless in the face of great odds. That's what I mean when I say that.

Li´on-heart`ed Pronunciation: lî´ŭn`härt`ĕd
a. 1. Very brave; brave and magnanimous

does that help?

I always took it to mean a hero or a very brave person.

Yes, brave and heroic.

King Richard of England was called Richard the Lionhearted for his bravery.

It's a compliment :)

I've always thought of it as meaning you are courageous. It definitely is a compliment. My dd used to ask me if she was being "brave eyes" when she was scared of something but doing it anyway (like getting a shot). I have no idea where she got that saying but I always figured she probably heard 'brave heart' somewhere and got it messed up, lol.
