What does everyone do for breakfast?

We are staying at the HRH in 3 weeks and I'm curious about breakfast options. I looked at the menu for HRH's breakfast at the Sunset Grill, kind of pricey. It seems like the only type of breakfast food at the parks is muffins, pastries, etc. What does everyone do for breakfast if you don't have a car?

Thanks for any help.

Our family faces this problem every vacation too. This year I plan on packing some fruit, bread(for pb and jelly-a good breakfast by the way) bagels, breakfast bars, poptarts and little cereal boxes. These items should hold us over until our dinner reservations which we usually have at 12 each day. You could bring a little cooler to store the jelly, small milk carton, butter, cream cheese etc. in. Freezing box drinks(orange juice), water etc. will act as the ice/ cooler for your items till you get to the hotel and then when thawed out you'll have your drinks/oj for the morning as well. We are traveling from PA and always freeze box drinks and they stay frozen/cool for many hours. Then when we get to our hotel, we refill the cooler with ice. Hope this is helpful.

Some of the car services will give you a stop at a grocery store on the way, like FL Tours which advertises here.
Use the stop to buy a styrophome cooler (found in the beer isle for about $7), ice, milk, juice, doughnuts, fruit, snacks, sodas, and of coarse, beer. Just leave the cooler next to the ice machine when you leave. There is also a Walgreens and some gas stations on Kirkman Road within walking distance of HRH just North of the Radisson (two big towers). The Publix grocery store is 1 mile to the north on the west side of Kirkman.

We do basically what Mary and Rob said. When driving we bring our plug-in cooler. This last trip we stored non-perishables in the cooler (plus had a big shopping bag filled with snacks), plugged it in when we got to the hotel, and then went out and bought perishables. The little cereal boxes were a big hit with all of us. We also stocked up on cereal bars and snack size Planters peanuts to bring into the parks to tide us over until lunch. My sister brought water and soda to stock our cooler. We bought bananas, milk, cheese, bread, etc.

is there anywhere in city walk for a good "cheap" breakfast?

Pancake, eggs, hashbrowns......

Several of the "bakeries" at the parks serve an egg sandwich--for about 4.95: I love it: eggs, cheese, croissant. They cook it while you wait--very tasty. I guess it isn't the healthiest-but at least I am getting some protein, in addition to the fat.

I usually hop on down to the restaurants in the hotel and grab a danish and coffee. I am not a breakfast eater so coffee, OJ, heck even a coke will satisfy me.

Be prepared though for a shock when you find out how much a coffee and danish cost!

Coming form the UK we always find our appetites disapear in the heat so last year we had the cereal breakfast bars and juice

Consider upgrading to club level and you'll get "free" continental breakfast -- a good spread too.

Another alternative is to walk over to Kirkman. There's a McDonald's on the corner across Vineland Rd. Farther up, there's a Waffle House.

Across Kirkman (six wide lanes) is a Ponderosa Steakhouse that serves a cheap buffet breakfast.

The third alternative is to stop at Crescent Moon (IOA) or Beverly Hills Boulangerie (USF) for a sugar-charged start to the day.:)

How long of a walk is this? Is it difficult to cross the street safely?

MAny hotels offer a free *breakfast*. I have seen juice, coffee, and dounuts (sometimes bagels and cream cheese) laid out as breakfast. This may be plenty to satisfy you and yours. Bagels are oft. what DD eats for breakfast anyway. This time, the HOJos Im staying at claims to serve a *real* hot breakfast. 2 adults free with the room price. Ill let ya'll know what that was like when Im back :D :)

For those who only want coffee or tea and a pastry or muffin, there's a Starbuck's in City Walk. The only thing is that the morning I decided to go there before the park opened, they weren't open yet even though workers were inside. I was surprised since our Starbucks open so early.

I also noticed that Pastamore in City Walk is open for breakfast but I don't know if it's good or not or what they serve exactly.

It's a longish walk. I have been razzed on the boards before about my willingness to walk almost everywhere. And crossing Kirkman can be nerve-wracking until you get used to it.

Still, it's doable. OTOH, if time is an issue (as it almost always is) then you're probably better off paying the higher price to eat at the hotels.

Does this sound stupid. I'm planning on taking a minnie waffle maker. It takes 2 minutes to make the waffles, no smoke, and the mix does not have to be refrigerated. I will also take some pre-cooked bacon ( won't cook it in advance myself... buy it in the grocery store) and warm it in the microvave, and buy Orange Juice or Tang. Another option is that Sams club sells someting cslled pancake on a stick. They are sausage links wrapped in a pancake and put on a stick like a corn dog. We are bringing a microwave, so we can warm them up...Only takes 1 minute. Bagals and cream cheese, poptarts, and cereal are also good options. Another option is to pack a toaster, and have cinnamon toast in the mornings or those toaster pastrie things with sausage, egg, and cheese. There are some options. Not totally sure what we are gonna do yet.

Good Luck

Steph

Do the HRH continental breakfast buffet. It's $7 a person and has a nicer spread than the greasy stuff (eggs, bacon, etc.).
