What do you wear when leaving the ship going to Castaway Cay? Do you wear your regular clothes and then change to a swim suit after getting to the beach area?

Or do you leave the ship with your swimsuit on?

What items do you take with you to Castaway Cay? (ex. camera, sunscreen mp3 player, etc.)

Do they have lifejackets for rent?

Bathing suit and cover, sunscreen , a book maybe a hat. They give you towels as you leave the ship. You still have to have your keycard to get off and on the ship as well.

It is really easy to go back to the ship at anytime if you forget something.

Another tip...if you buy anything at the shops on the island you can have it sent back to the ship. You do not have to cart it around all day or run back. Lunch is served on the island as well so no need to go back to the ship for that either.

I wear a swimsuit with a cover up over it. There is no place to change except the bathrooms.

Snorkel vests are free, and are required in the snorkel area. You don't have to inflate it, but you must have it on. They used to have loaner life jackets at Gil's, but I've read some stuff that implies they may not have them any more.

You take what you will need/want for the day. There are no lockers or cubbies, so you don't want to leave valuables on the beach that you won't be using. Yes to sun screen and hat. You will need a KTTW for each member of your party and a government issued photo ID for the 18 and over crowd.

We also wear our suits with a cover-up. My husband and son wear their swim trunks and a t-shirt.

We bring a string backpack with our lotion, books, etc. That is it. We usually run back to our room once during the trip if we need something else.

AFAIK, there are no changing room's on CC, so wearing a swimsuit under any clothes would be a good idea unless you have booked a cabana.

You can take a camera, MP3 player, but there aren't any lockers to store them, so you can take them, but might not wan't to walk away from them.
It's not far from the family beach to go back to the ship to drop them off once you have used them.

Sunscreen, definite yes!!!
Even on cloudy day's, sunburn is possible!

Life jacket's are available for use in the family beach snorkelling area FOC!
Don't think your allowed to take them else where though?

Wow, maybe I'm just naive or very lucky but I've always brought my camera and Ipod onto Castaway Cay with me and have never had any concerns or issues about someone else taking them. And I have left them sitting alone inside my beach bag for long periods of time while I've snorkeled or enjoyed some other activity on the island.

Yep, there are no recent report's on here of theft's of property whilst on CC.
I guess if anyone inclined to steal whilst cruising, the beauty and amazing time they are having on CC keep's them distracted!
It is very very safe, but if you are a worrier, then take them back to the ship, and relax and enjoy the time!

My point was not that there is or is not crime on Castaway Cay, only to say that there is no place to store or lock up your stuff. Take what you need and will use, but don't take extra stuff.

When you leave the ship, there will be CMs handing out towels for your use, so no need to take beach towels unless you specifically want them. They will also be selling small collapsible coolers with 6 bottles of water and ice for $20.00. We didn't get one when we first left the ship, but after we snorkled, we were ready for some fresh water and when the guy came around selling them along the beach, we took advantage then.

Also, if you wish to send post cards, you can buy some on the ship, address and write them, and when you get off at CC, there is a post office right there at the dock. Purchase a stamp there at the post office and leave it with them to be mailed and they will put a special CC postmark on it.

And remember that the merchandise on CC is only available on CC. If you see something you want, get it then, don't wait until later as sizes have been known to sell out. They will send your purchases back to the ship for you to pick up later so you don't have to lug them around with you. If you aren't sure of sizes, you can return things on the ship that were purchased at CC as long as you have your receipt.

Since the ship is right there, we just hopped back on to change and drop off our camera when we went snorkeling.

We wore our swimsuits with coverups. I took a bag with sunscreen, chapstick, a watch, camera, and a book. There is some walking involved on the island, don't take too much. We didn't think to take bottled water, but after getting to Serenity bay we were thirsty and purchased the cooler bag with water after we got to the beach.
We left our bag on our chair while we went swimming. When we rode bikes, they had a big storage box where everyone could leave their bags inside.

We wore our swimsuits with either a coverup or sundress over it. We took sunscreen, iPhones, cash to mail postcards, books, mini bottles of alcohol to add to the Konk coolers and bottled water to rinse our mouths after swimming very salty water. We stayed on the island about 4-5 hours then went back to ride the aqua duck and nap before bingo (B-11, B..B...11!)
On the island I rode the enclosed slide and snorkeled. Highly recommended on the snorkeling hidden Mickey and Minnie alert.
