I got an SUV for $250 for 8 days for our dates in August at Alamo. I used the Wal-Mart discount and then an Entertainment Book coupon (the first time I was EVER able to do that!) How does that sound?

Sounds pretty good to me. We paid 179.99 for 7 days for what they called a mid SUV in May. We ended up getting a Chrysler Pacifica for that price which was totally awesome!

Is this with taxes and fees? I am trying to rent an SUV for July 6thru 14th and I am getting nothing less than 400.00?? :confused3

we used all the info on mousesavers and got an suv for 7 nights in august for $140.28. Now thats a bargain!!

Yes, that is the total price. I barely even look at the base price whenever I price car rental since it ends up being so much more with all of theose taxes and fees. ::yes::

You sure got THAT right! :earseek: That is a GREAT bargain! Would you mind sharing the particulars of how you got that price? Is it with one of the airport located agencies?

It has been awhile but I picked up a coupon book from BJ's, used that code and played around with the other codes on mousesavers. I am looking at my confirmation. Try the rate/product code BYW3 and contract id-7011902. GOOD LUCK.
I see a post on the budget board and someone said that they got 8 days for under $100. Now that is good!!! I now have to see if I can get this price even lower.

Thanks andychris! I will give those numbers a try - but the site is down right now.

Unfortunately, we don't have BJs here. I have tried Sam's and I can't find a decent price there at all!

:thumbsup2 I've got an Standard SUV for July 3-11 from Alamo for $171.97 used CI 428448 and Rate BQW8 and coupon D24c $25 off.

What dates are you all using, and how long ago did you book your ressies? I have been playing around with al kinds of different Alamo combinations and I am consistently getting in the high 500s for either a midsize or standard SUV.

I already have a ressie for a mid size SUV from 8/18-8/27 for $149, but I am always interested in getting it lower!!!

I just tried the above codes for my dates of 8/8-8/15 and the price for the Standard SUV with taxes, etc. was $391.11!

So I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong?

I am going through alamo, from 8/23-9/3-06, 12 days and i cant find anything cheaper than the $591 for a mini van. i would prefer a cheaper price. how did you go through walmart?

The code is listed in the Mousesavers Website. Check there for discounts for all of the rental agencies. But rates change on an daily (maybe hourly?) basis, so you need to call often to check that you have the best rate. Unless I get an AMAZING deal (like andychris's one for $140) then I will check until we leave.

Good luck! :)

Jaf - i tried the same codes you mentioned from Aug 17-24 and my price is $247 - has to be the time period, how much is available etc... but i am persistent and will keep trying. Waiting for more August codes to be released.

I booked a standard SUV for 8/12 - 8/20 (8 days) using the Wlamart and ENT code for $160. I booked it on 2/21/06. There were a rash of posters getting these low rates. I have been checking since and the prices are significantly higher. I think the lowest I have seen was around $250. It has ben my experience that the prices start to go down again about 30 -60 days out. National is also knwo to have better rates clsoer to departure and I am hoping to snag a good rate with them as I prefer National. Keep playing around and keep checking here but over all, I think you have a good rate for eight days. Good Luck!

I have read that a couple of times now, and I WILL continue to watch and check until it is time for us to leave. Thanks for the good wishes! :)
