We are flying from Pensacola, FL to MCO on April 15. The best price I can find is $804 for 2 adults, 1 child. The prices have not changed since I started pricing, which was about 5 weeks ago. I am hesitant to book, but don't want to wait too long, as seating may be an issue b/c they planes are smaller jets (3 seats across????). Any suggestions? These are all non stop flights. I've tried everything BUT Priceline. Hotwire had it about $100 cheaper with a "discounted" offer. That's fabulous, but I have no idea of the airline, flight times, layovers, etc.

Thanks,
Wendi

34 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pensacola is a toughie, just not much competetion. On a route like that I am not sure you are going to do a whole lot better. DL does have "sales" on that one every now and then, but it's the fly out on Sat and return the next Tuesday only type, not much help!

Have you checked other airports around there? Not sure you can do much better, but...

Carol, Pensacola seems to be the cheapest. We are in Mobile, so PC isn't too far. I'm not sure I know what "DL" is, but I'll think for a sec, and I'm sure it will come to me lol. Thanks for the input.

Lion Queen, THANKS!! I am sooooo excited, as always before a trip!!

That seems pretty steep but you are flying on Easter weekend so I don't think you can expect any specials to pop up. We are flying MDW to MCO on Friday 4/14 and as of a coupled days ago when I checked the flight was sold out but was going for $ 258.00 1 way before selling out. That is alot for that route but I think it is because they can charge that much and still fill the seats.

Good Luck.

FYI: DL is the most common abbreviation for Delta Air Lines. I think Delta pretty much has a lock on the non-stop Pensacola to Orlando route, tho they do have two or three flights a day. As far as I can tell, the base rate on that route is $249 per person (with tax: $268.10), and that's the best I can see at this point. We can frequently do better out of Boston, but then we have competition on the route. The biggest competition on your Mobile-Orlando route is the 7 1/2 hour drive, I would think.

Best of luck, and have a great trip!

I think it's pretty steep for the amount of actual travel time. Isn't Pensacola only about 6-7 hours from Disney? By the time you get to the airport early to check in, take off and land, and gather your luggage and drive to your hotel, you're already spending about 3 hours - and that's if you are going to leave home for the airport early in the morning. I would save the $800, get up at the crack of dawn (or before) and drive. If you leave at 5 or 6 a.m., you could still make it to Disney by lunchtime. Then you would have an extra $800 spending money!

I have to say I agree with this. $800 is a LOT of money to avoid such a drive. I wouldn't pay that much for our Nashville to MCO route, and it's a 12.5 hour drive for us.

I'm sorry the rates are so whacked at Pensacola. It seems the state of Florida could use some kind of inexpensive, no frills "air-taxi" service to connect all those cities in the state. I looked on SWA's website, and it seems SWA's closest stops are either New Orleans or Orlando.

Oh well, I hope you find some way to get there relatively quickly, and cheaply. :)

My sister just booked at great rate from Boston by flying on Easter Sunday. If you can't get a better rate, I'd drive too.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the replies!!

We were actually going to drive, but decided I didn't want to put the miles on my van. I've put almost 60k on it in 2.5 years. We considered renting a car to drive, but from what I can tell, that would roughly be a savings of $300 over flying, but we would have the 8 hour drive. If we fly, we are staying an extra night in WDW-so that's the incentive to fly. I've seen so many folks with amazing rates in the past, that I oped we would be as fortunate. I'm guessing the best rates are on line rates, but I think I will call the airline(DL) direct, as well as a travel agent. Sure do wish I had my license!!

Thanks again, and I will continue to check the thread if anyone else has any advice!
