What do you think of this party invitation? It ticks me off/PARTY UPDATE post 152

On a side note, I don't get parents who do the gift-grab thing. What parent wants MORE toys lying around their house? I'm making donations to toy drives every chance I get, just to get some of the toys OUT of my house!

Same here!! For us, it's about celebrating the day. Not the gifts.

I don't think it's rude to ask family and close friends to bring a dish.

However, to ask the other guest to do so is rude.

For our family, in the "old days" when baby showers were just the females getting together we did not do meals. We usually had a mid afternoon affair with just some snacks and a cake. No potluck for that, the hostess provided all. Now that fathers are more involved (and that is a GOOD thing!) and are included in the baby showers, we often have whole family evening affairs that includes a meal. For that we have potluck. I see nothing wrong with this in our close knit family. That closeness includes cousins, second cousins, in-laws, out-laws and some who have just "adopted" us.

Those two moms take "whiny, tacky, gift-grabbing, greedy, ignorant, ungrateful, clueless witches" to a whole new level. I'm amazed they didn't just charge an entrance fee, with enough mark-up to make a tidy profit for themselves. :rotfl2:
