Our first trip to WDW is coming up in December. I have 2 BOG breakfast reservations, but need some help. We have 1 on our 1st MK day for 8:30 and 1 on our 2nd MK day (last full WDW day) for 8:00. Should I drop one to see the welcome show? I've heard it's great, but I also hear there are oppressive crowds sometimes at rope drop. For context we are attending MVMCP on the first day, but plan to take a long break midday, no definitive break planned for second day.

I absolutely love the welcome show. It gets you in the perfect mood for park entrance. But it's more like one of the main street song and dance numbers in terms of length and spectacle. Not worth skipping a meal or changing an ADR.

My recommendation: watch it on youtube in the days before you leave for your trip. That'll get you and your family excited.

Welcome Show! LOVE!!! If it was me, I would have to drop one of those ressies to see it!

Love, love, love the Welcome Show! Makes me cry every time.

MK will open up around 8:45, so your 8:30 BOG ADR will put you behind the crowds. I would drop it, see the show, and keep the 8:00 ADR.

We always see the welcome show our first morning in the parks. I would drop the 8:30 breakfast and see the show and go to 8 breakfast on your second day.

We loved it. We also went in December and they had special holiday attire on which was a nice touch. I didn't find the crowd at the show bad at all. I would really try to see it if you can swing it.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but it is not for me. Very cheesy, very hokey and all I can think during it is that putting women in dresses with high ruffled collars and long sleeves in Florida is in line with water boarding.

That said, it is classic Americana. If you like the Music Man, the show is probably right up your alley (too bad Simpsons is not a Disney property because the monorail song would work on many levels here). Even I have to admit it's worth seeing once but I would not cancel anything to see it.

We love the Welcome show and always watch it on our first day. It's just so Disney, if you know what I mean. I always tear up a little at it. BOG breakfast is nice, but truthfully we didn't care for the food enough to go twice. If it was us, I'd drop the 8:30 reservation and watch the welcome show and enjoy early morning low waits. You'll get more benefits from the 8am BOG by maybe getting to ride the 7DMT before park opening after breakfast. Just my opinion though. I don't know if you have a BOG lunch or dinner also planned. If you do, then I'd definitely drop that 8:30 ADR.

Another one for drop one of the ADRs, first I don't think BOG is worth eating at twice in one trip and second, it's a cute show.

FYI, everything I've read indicates all PPO ADRs are let in starting around 7:45, so 8 or 8:30 shouldn't actually make a difference. Might want to do some double checking before canceling anything, but I am counting on that for my 8:25 ADR!

The welcome show is a MUST DO for us.

It has sentimental value though. Our first trip was in 2010, and we didn't even know there was a welcome show. If was our first ever full day at a Disney park, and we made sure to get there before MK opened. All of a sudden there was music, the announcer, the dancers... and then to top it off, the train with all the characters. Once that train rounded the bend and come into view, I remember thinking just how special this trip was going to be. Got me choked up a little. We've been hooked ever since.

That whole trip was one surprise first after the next. Can't ever replace that. Glad we have the photos, video, and memories to look and think back on. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Welcome Show is very special to me. No, it's not a spectacle with mind blowing effects or anything like that, it's just the perfect way to begin a trip to WDW. They set the tone to get you happy and excited and make everyone there feel truly special. It's just amazing how something so simple cna create such joy. It is definitely worth seeing, and while BOG is great, going twice for breakfast isn't necessary.

Totally agree. Personally I would do the welcome show on your first MK morning. It won't have the same impact if you have already been to MK earlier on the trip.

You have two BOG ADR's so I think it is worth dropping one and catching teh opening show. It is fun.
