what do you think of Paradise Pier Hotel ?

Very nice! Hey, it's a Marriott property, and they are good, so I'm sure it won't be bad. :)

And you're very close, definitely. We loved Millie's the night we got to-go from them...big portion of homemade mac and cheese, huge side salad, garlic bread...deelish. Mimi's is good too but we liked the food we got at Millie's more.

FYI the lines at mcd's are crazy, I've heard and noticed.

Did you/are you going to buy the tickets as electronic tickets through disneyland.com? It's a good choice...print out the voucher, hand it over at the turnstile, get a real ticket handed to you.

Hey - We will be at PPH at the same time you are! We will check in on the 9th. We have a little 2 year old so probably will have a different agenda than you guys. Will do MM on Tuesday solo while baby and spouse sleep in.

What is on your agenda?

Oren

Thanks everyone for posting your opinions and reviews...we are staying there for the first time next month (8/8-8/13) and you all made me feel better, I'm always sort of afraid to stay somewhere new if I've never been before...we will be attending the Lilo and Stitch meal because we are getting a "free" character meal by booking through Costco!

VictorandBellasmom, I used to have a friend from Kirkland years ago!! Her name was Anne...I often think about my days at CWU and wonder where people are now that I knew then...Anyway, our kids are teenagers, 17 and our son will be 14 by the time we go, so the "pull out" sofa will be nice. I just hope he fits in it, he's tall for his age. Oh and we are also going to San Diego afterwards!

We've got three adults, a 7dd and a 3ds. We check in on the 9th and go through the 15th (check out morning and go to the park). Then drive back to Oregon.

Most of the group will be maxing out our time there. (Mom will be enjoying the break).

We love the Pier and if you have never stayed on site before it is a great way to start. I think there is no comparision to off site and on site. Having everything within walking distance and not having to wait for a shuttle or bus or having to walk through a busy city street is a huge plus to me.
The Pier theme, disney beach, is ok but not the best of the 3 on site properties but it is still good (IMO). The rooms are the largest of the 3 hotels and they are clean and quiet. If you get a Park view it is awesome, even a standard view can get a lower level park view sometimes. The walk across the street is nothing because it is clean and well manicured and still gives the impression of Disney (IMO). It is faster to go through GC hotel and into Californian Adventure through the hotel entrance but the walk through Downtown Disney is beautiful too. The pool is ok but not much of a theme like the Disney hotel but we personally only swim once or twice during our week stays so it is plenty of pool for us. They have a small circular pool for young children (1-4) a nice large pool for swimming and then a huge slide (I think the largest at any of the resorts) that just comes to a stop at the bottom (not into a pool).

Last April we stayed at the Grand and loved it, not the rooms but the hotel and the added closeness to the parks and Downtown Disney. The rooms were nice but not as big as the Piers and they are much darker than the Piers. But we did like our stay so much that we bought into the DVC program at the Grand Californian Villas. I am sure you will love your stay so enjoy!!!

I hope you enjoy FFI ~ and my opinion RE: PP & HoJo ~ HoJo all the way. We stayed 1 night @ PP this past Dec. and we just returned from our 2nd stay at HoJo and I very much prefer HoJo (especially the ent. rate) we also stayed 1 night at DLH earlier this year and I prefer it to PP ~ just has that Disney feel but it's too expensive so 1 night is about all we can do. I'm looking forward to our 1 night @ GCH in Sept. We won't even go to the parks on our check in day so we're gonna take advantage of the hotel ~ swim and relax.

I just cancelled our reservations at Hojo and booked Paradise Pier. Since I hardly ever go to DLR i firgured I might as well go all out Disney. For the people who have stayed at PPH before what did you think?

I love PPH !! I would rather save my money and stay out side the park, but if I was richer I would do PPH :) its so nice, clean and easy to get into the grand californian and into down town disney. I really enjoyed my stay there and felt the furniture was much better then the disneyland hotel. you will like it :)

I'm revising my post here...after much thought and after talking to my husband, we decided to forgo going through Costco and booking the PP. I found a MUCH better rate directly with fairfieldinn.com, which is right across the street, and although we won't get the character meal or $20 gift card, (he doesn't really care for the character meal, and our kids are teens anyway) I couldn't resist the savings! The rate I got is $501.50 including tax for 5 nights, it was $87 per night + tax. They also have 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa, and the availability of less expensive food is abundant there, with Pizza Hut Express, Seattle's Best coffee and Mcdonalds, Millie's and Mimi's next door. We would have paid $1554 for the package through Costco, but when I priced it out separately, by buying the "buy 3, get 2 free" tickets directly through disney.com it came out to $1217 total, which saves $337!! That's a lot of extra meals (or whatever) to buy with!

I also discovered that although we would get extra EE/MM by staying on Disney property, we would only be able to take advantage of it twice with their schedule and ours. Oh well! I guess I'll have to be an "outsider" this time, but who knows? Maybe we could do the GCH in the future...lol...I'm happy with my decision now. I read lots of great reviews, and after seeing recent pictures of the hotel and rooms, it looks great! Now I can start concentrating on the Angels baseball game tickets, Amtrak tickets to SD, San Diego hotel, etc.

Good for you !!! Im also staying at the Farifield this next month, it just sounded so much better, its closer to the park then the hojo and there pool is so nice. The reviews at the FFI are amazing and p[eople are really giving this hotel a wonderful rating.
