Besides the waiting....what do you think is the hardest thing about planning a WDW trip?

I love pretty much everything about planning a trip, but I hate the airfare game. Always checking prices, wondering if it's going to go up or down, trying to guess when to book. Will there be a sale? Should I wait? What if I wait and it goes way up? Ect, ect...and I'm never happy til the airfare is booked. Thankfully I only really have to check one airline because I like to fly non-stop and Continental is the only airline that flies non-stop Cleveland to Orlando. I think I'd go crazy if I had to check a bunch of different airlines all the time like some of you guys do.

Animal care arrangements.....hands down. We have two Chihuahuas with health issues. One has epilepsy, which is usually controlled with meds. The other has pulmonic stenosis and causes her to pass out and sometimes have a seizure when she runs, barks too much, or gets overly excited.

Billy used to watch them and even did some house sitting for us in the past, but he now has a new partner and is not available. We boarded them with PetsHotel this last time. The dogs did ok, but Beanie & Deuce both were overtired and took about 3 or 4 days to recover from their 4 day boarding. The expense is always an issue too. We spent almost $600 for a 4 night stay, which is about 1-1/2 times what we spent on our room at CBR for 3 nights.

Definitely a stressful decision for us. We want the dogs to be safe and well cared for. We also would love to have them closer by in case something happens. I don't think that I could forgive myself if I wasn't with Beanie when she does finally die. That little dog chose me to be her mom. She had been abandoned at a pet adoption day at PetsMart. She shook when everyone held her, until I did. She finally quit shaking and snuggled in like she was home. I need to be there for her to the end...at the end.

Ok, enough doggie drama! :sad1:

Yep, dog care arrangements, are the hardest part for us. Maggie

I think the hardest thing is just leaving it alone....

Thus far my disney trip has been booked as:

FW Campground 11/4 - 11/13

than to

ASMU 11/4 - 11/13

than to

POR 11/2 - 11/14 due to DING

Now what will I do next, i still have 29 days to think about it.....

Of course besides waiting I hate saving money. That annoys the hell out of me. I absolutely love the actual planning and pricing items (airfar, hotel, tickets, etc.), but the actual time to just save money for not only those items but to save money for food and suvineers just drives me bonkers.

I agree about pet care completely!!! Always the most stressful. I hate putting my dog in kenneling but this time there are no other options for us. We got someone to stay at our house our last trip out of town. I worked okay but that person wasn't home one night- the night of the big storm and my poor doggy got left out in the lightening and thunder!!

I felt so terrible!! Kenneling might be better knowing that someone is always taking care of her. We pay major bucks for this one Kennel that we like because they have two long play times outside- one that is all morning. Then back in the kennels for naps and dinner. Then let out to play the late afternoon and up until dark.

The airfare game is so not fun either but the petcare stress is worse for me!

I really really have difficulty choosing between the restaurants to eat at. We're on the dining plan. This is my first trip and there are soooo many good ones. I just keep changing my ADR's over and over. I almost positive the CM's who make the ADR's know me by name. Of course, I hate waiting and spending so much money for the trip, but that is the most difficult part of planning for me so far.

Probably the hardest part of me is worrying if I'll be able to come up with the money to pay for everything in time. Other than that, everything else is pretty fun!

The hardest thing about planning a trip for me... when I go I like to invite family and friends to come with me. I have the hardest time making plans for us when the people that I am going with won't express an opinion. "Oh, I don't care, whatever you want, you know more than I do." I hate that. I don't mind being the tour guide, but people will use manners as an excuse to not take on any responsibility. I know I can really plan a great trip for us if they would just stop being "polite" and tell me what they would prefer. Or do a bit of research to know enough of what I am talking about to have an opinion.

The hardest thing for me is to tell others (family and friends) that we are going back to WDW again! :confused3

The hardest part for me is not to over plan. And planning on park times that change when I get down there. And booking an ADR and then reading 100 reviews about how bad it was at that restaurant.

The hardest part is when you want to keep planning but you are beyond the budget! I would like to keep planning.. somehow, I need to stop somewhere or else I'll go broke. :)

The planning of the trip is fun for me, but the part I hate is the unpacking after the trip. :rolleyes1

this is easy without reading anything. waiting to go after you start planning. am i right or what? and get my brother to goto WDW(far more stubborn then my dad.

I love every minute of planning my trips...especially all you Dis'ers. But their are things (other than waiting that are a little hard to do)...

We have pets and it is hard for us to leave them with just anyone and our dog is ill and that makes it even harder to leave him somewhere.

Having to keep freinds and family from "crashing" our plans. Don't get me wrong...I love them all but what we have in our minds as vacation differs from alot of our family members and friends. We go with the impression of "it's vacation...just do it", and they go with the "that cost to much, or that is a waste of money" attitude. To each their own but since I am paying my own way...well you know the rest. I am all for traveling with friends and family...and will gladly meet up with you when both our schedules allows, but I don't want nor expect anyone to change their plans for me, so don't expect me to change mine for you. I am not a horrible person belive me...have even traveled well with friends and family & loved it, we just need to know each others boundries before we leave home.

Then the WAITING,WAITING,WAITING

For me the hardest part is to admit that we wont be able to do EVERYTHING and therefore having to choose between 2 attractions. And the money part isnt my fave either :)

There are two,
The first is saving money over a 5 month period and having the discipline not to spend any of it. To that end I try to pay the resort cost and travel expenses as soon as possible so I wont spend it. The last month or so is then saving cash for souveniers and food.

The second is the date. Although, every year, we always go either the last week in jan or the first week in feb its still hard to decide which one. I always go back and forth playing devils advocate wondering, for example, if the weather would be any better on one or the other. I hate when you arrive during an unseasonable cold snap, but was 80 degrees the week before. I dont have any problems making decisions until you give me two very close options to choose from!

The hardest part is dealing with the family members who don't want to get up in time or follow the schedule I have so meticulously put together through months of careful planning and research!
Actually, I just wish someone around here would take half as much interest in all the planning as I do. I figure if we are going to spend that much $$ I should be enjoying it as some level for months prior and at least weeks after (with photos, scrapbooking...). No wonder I have found a second home here on the DIS!

Alright, I really have to be honest here. The planning (annoyances and all) - I love every minute of it. The hardest part for me truly is the last two weeks before the trip when everything is done and I just have to wait - UGGHHH! That's where I am now - we have one week to go and it's killing me. Nothing to plan - nothing to confirm until next week. It's brutal but soooooo worth it. :teeth:
