I saw a question on another thread asking if the flying carpet has been fixed in the Aladdin Stage show and it made me think. I've seen this show several times and I absolutely think its the best of the stage shows in either DL or WDW.

I don't think it needs to stay there forever, but there are other stage shows at Disney Parks that have been around for far, far longer. So...

I'm somewhat of an entertainer and I'm a big supporter of changing and evolving shows so that things don't get stale, but ONLY if you are replacing it with something bigger and better. Aladdin is a great, great show and while I know it can't stay forever, I do hope they really, really put a lot of thought into whatever they might replace it with down the road. If they don't have anything amazing in the pipeline, then I'm fine with Aladdin staying as-is right now.

They closed the show for about 6 months about a year ago to replace it with Toy Story. But DL changed their mind and remounted Aladdin. I think it will be around for a long time, but without the flying carpet. I saw the show about 2 months after the accident and the scene was awful. Then I saw it about 6 months after the accident and it was still awful. Saw it a few weeks ago and it works. They figured out how to do the scene without the flying carpet. But I do miss the carpet.

My family enjoys the show each time we go. Last year my two grand kids(17yr old grandson and 14 year old granddaughter)went with me. They both wanted to see it twice while we were there.

My grandson loves the genie's humor!

We have a trip coming up right after the first of the year. I'm sure we will make time to see the show. I'm trying to have all four of my grand kids tag along with me this time. DGS 18, DGD15, DGS 10 and DGD 8 It's going to be a BLAST!

We're booking on our own so we won't have the preferred seating vouchers. Hopefully we will be able to get preferred seat vouchers from someone that didn't use them on their trip.

I completely agree with this. I think Aladdin's been around long enough, it would be OK to replace it with another excellent show, maybe something themed to Snow White (though I know Disneyland's done that) or something 1920s/30s themed, or something totally different. That said, Aladdin has the edge that the Genie can make it feel fresh...I have a hard time imagining any other show in Anaheim lasting so many years, given the local fan base.

Either way, a show with numerous walkabout characters like the Toy Story one seemed to be going towards, would feel like a step down compared to Aladdin's quality. Better an excellent repeat experience than something new but not as great.

We haven't bothered to see it in years. I would take the time to see something fresh, at least once.

no flying carpet??? I have only seen the show once back in 2009. I love it and the flying carpet gave the show a special touch. I was eager to take my DD4 to see it during our trip in Nov. But Then I read this thread and learned about the accident. I actually saw some clips of it on YouTube. How scary!! Im sure though we will enjoy it without the carpet.

I would hope Disney to replace Aladdin with another reputable show, perhaps Lion King or Mary Poppins. Since these shows are already on Broadways, it wouldnt be hard for Disney to modify it for DCA. It will also give us more excuse to visit DCA again and again.

I wouldn't mind if it stuck around if they fixed the issues. As it is now, it is just strange without the carpet.

While I have not seen the show yet(we will in November), my first thought was the Lion King musical. I have seen clips of that show and it looks pretty amazing.

I don't want it to end, but I would like to Disney to fully use that theater space and rotate in other shows.

Toy Story plans was a bummer for us! I'm glad Disney cancelled those plans.

Bringing Lion King from WDW would be awesome! Thats a very well done and liked show. Would have to completely change the theater or build a new venue for it.

Either that or The Beauty and The Beast broadway show.

My family are big fans of the Aladdin show but if it has to be replaced I agree that is should be with something of a similar quality and broadway style. The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, they're all amazing broadway shows and could hold a reduced version in the Hyperion. Disney already have reduced scripts available for some of these musicals, available to theatre companies so I'm sure they could come up with something spectacular for DCA! :)

I agree. I don't think the show is as good as it used to be. We watched it a couple of weeks ago, and it was like they were just phoning it in. It might have just been an off day, but I would love to see some new entertainment in the Hyperion.

I saw it for the first time in August, partly because the Unofficial Guide mentioned how amazing the flying carpet scene was. When I saw it Jasmine and Aladdin weren't even IN the scene! They were singing, but they weren't onstage! Finally, at the end of the song they appeared and stepped off their carpet, but the carpet was sitting right on the stage floor.

So what did I miss? How did the scene USE to play? And what accident happened?

Aladdin and Jasmine used to fly above the audience on the magic carpet. About a year ago, the carpet flipped over in midair and left Aladdin and Jasmine hanging upside down above the audience. Nobody was hurt, luckily, but the carpet has been absent from the show ever since. I'm guessing that if it isn't back by now, it's not coming back.

I love the Aladdin show but they need to fix the flying carpet! Thats one of the most amazing parts... when its working...

I love this show, but I agree that Disney should keep things fresh. Granted, I go to DLR way more than your average visitor, so it is still new to a lot of guests . . . but it would be great if they could rotate shows. I have not seen the Aladdin show since they took the carpet out, but imagine it would be disappointing - to me, the flying carpet is what Jasmine & Aladdin are all about. It's the magic of the whole story. I am sure it has to do with governmental regs or something, but it doesn't make sense to me that they removed the scene when it seems that the safety equipment worked exactly as planned, and nobody was hurt.

Anyway, I would love to see a new show at the Hyperion!
