What do you think about the Mickey hand n' wand Epcot sign on Spaceship Earth?

How do you feel about the hand & wand sign on Spaceship Earth?

  • It sucks! I ruins Spaceship Earth!

  • I don't really like it but don't mind if it stays.

  • It's okay, I don't mind it.

  • I love the Wand! It is great!

I really like it, especially at night, it was so plain before. I also don't like the hat where it is right in front of the theater either, you don't see it at all anymore! I also liked the castle when it was a birthday cake, and with the gold, but it also looks okay when it is plain. :cheer2:

I dislike the Sorceror Mickey hat in MGM - it obstructs the view of the theatre and totally ruins the "show"/atmosphere.
I couldn't agree more. The hat blocks the theatre, and does a lot to hide the effort that was made to make the theatre interesting in the first place.

I wish they would get rid of the hat.

Enjoy.

The Sphere was so much prettier and much more sophisticated without the ridiculous hand added. I wish they would take it down...got an idea, how about we get the Queen of Hearts to "cut off the hand"!

Now if they would only get rid of the graveyard they put in front on it......

Agreed! This looks SO tacky! And I'm guessing they'll be permanent :guilty: fixtures since people are paying to have their names put on them.

Don't like it at all. In fact, I so treasure the brief moment when I walk past the Art of Disney store and look up, not being able to see it at all.

Spaceship Earth is a beautiful enough structure on its own. Can you imagine if they put a huge sign attached to the castle at the MK that said, "Magic Kingdom"?

I don't care for the hat at the Disney-MGM Studios either; it ruins the view of the Mann's Chinese Theater completely and messes up the Mickey Mouse head created by the ground colors and landscaping that used to be visible in aerial photos.

I liked the 2000 when it was put up, as it marked a special time. I was a bit disappointed when the wand replaced it - seemed a bit tacky rather than a one off special. However, it is beginning to grow on me. This is probably because I much prefer it to the sorcerer's hat at MGM. :wizard: That is tacky IMHO -but I will probably change my mind when they decide to put a neon 'Magic Kingdom' over Cinderella's castle and I can get annoyed at that instead. :furious:

I voted for love the wand, because I do!! :thumbsup2 I think it's a beautiful addition. Not tacky, like when they painted the castle pink and tried to make it look like a cake (UGLY!!!). I really love seeing it at night.

I really like it a lot :) It adds something extra. If it were gone, Spaceship Earth would look kind of plain to me now that I'm used to the wand.

I can deal with the hand and wand, but that huge dark dirt (?) mark on Spaceship Earth these days doesn't look so hot. :confused3

I've never seen Epcot without it, so I guess I would miss it if it had to disappear...

I've never seen Spaceship Earth without the Mickey hand and wand. I think it would be boring without the hand and wand so I like it. :)

For those of you who like the big ugly hand...and the sorcerer hat...please enlighten me as to where the hand is coming from?? Is there a giant Mickey buried underneath spaceship earth??

OY! I hate it and think it's terribly tacky....I think the imagineers must have been drinking when they designed that one...

As much as I love Sorcerer Mickey, I feel his hand is out of place near Spaceship Earth. I don't mind the wand & the 'EPCOT' sign, as I think they 'dress it up' a bit.

The hand/wand adds a bit of sparkle to it. I've seen the golf ball w/o it and felt that it needed a 'lil' something. It's too plain w/o it.

Plus, the hand/wand gives the park a Disney/Mickey feel. That was lacking when we visited in the 80's. Since we started going back...it's pure Disney! And of couse, since we started going back...the hand/wand has been a part of EPCOT so I like it alot! :)

I haven't been to Disney since the 90's, so I haven't actually seen it with my own eyes...but I don't think I'll like it one bit. I want to go to Epcot and remember it as it was without the big tackiness. I also want to go to MGM and not see that big sorcerers hat! I also did not like the gold/mirror on the castle, but knew it wasn't permanent so I could deal.

But I loved when the castle was turned into a cake! Go figure! :confused3
