What do you mean by"Codes" for discounts?

Sorry to be such a dummy, but what are discount "Codes" and where do you get them?

I'm planning a trip for April and am trying to save money where I can. We would like to stay in one of the 2 bedroom Villas. Can anyone offer some advice on getting a good rate?

Also visit the DVC rent/trade boards right here on the DIS. Owners rent their points for rooms like 2 bedroom villas.
