I was just wondering what everyone likes best about Christmas, for me it's the magic of seeing the kids believing so much in everything that they see, the anticipation of Santa coming and what is the best drink etc to leave him, scattering the gold shred all over the hallway and presents to make them think it's the magical reindeer hay that they have left behind !

Oh and of course the dinner! :rotfl:

What about you? what do you look forward to the most?

I love the fact that we get the chance to spend some time together as a family without work getting in the way :)

I like Christmas Eve when it gets dark and kids are all excited and you wonder whats inside all the parcels under the tree. We usual have a takeaway on Christmas Eve and a few drinks and everyone is bubbly and happy.:cloud9:

The thought of the fridge being jam packed with nice food is a good feeling too, ready for the big dinner on Christmas day. :rolleyes1

I love it all, from wrapping presents, writing cards, putting my tree up, drinking lots of Bailey's, listening to Christmas Carols, going to the church Christingle service, Christmas dinner, then putting it all away in time to go on holiday :santa: :rotfl2:

Ha, ha Mandy I think you must be Christmas's number one fan :rotfl2:

I love having the house all decorated and the warm cosy evenings with just the tree lights on.

I agree that having a fridge full of lovely food that you don't have week in week out is lovely too.

I enjoy cooking christmas dinner then snuggling up on the sofa with dh & the dogs to watch the christmas tv specials. :cloud9:

I love Christmas. I like going to collect the tree, our outdoor lights, wrapping the presents, watching A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve, leaving out the Baileys and mince pie for Santa, scattering the magical reindeer food outside...everything really!

The kids' excitement is the best thing. They are so excited in the morning that they are shaking.:rotfl:

I like tea time on Christmas day. All the pressure is off but Christmas isn't yet over, it's dark outside and we can snuggle up with just candles, tree lights and the tv on.

...in our house, the real festivities commence on my DD's birthday - December 23rd, AKA 'Sophiemas Day'!!! We go out for dinner at a restaurant of her choosing and bring her silliest gifts with us - love to watch her open them and it makes for a very noisy table!!! :goodvibes

BUT if I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be Christmas Eve. Such a lovely, festive day with all that last minute present wrapping, getting the dining table ready for the next day, Christmas movies, friends and family popping round for home made mince pies and the very first tasting of DH's Christmas Cocktail - he invents a new one every year...

Finally, at midnight, DH and I exchange just one gift before the mayhem of the morning. For me that's always a very special moment... :lovestruc

Merry Christmas, one and all!!!! :santa:

I love Christmas and I love buying presents, so I'm really sad we're having to scale back this year with only just getting the house. However, what I'm looking forward to the most is having Christmas just me and Robert with a nice duck dinner.... I know it sounds soppy and silly, but I'll be the happiest girl in the world!

That's my daughter's birthday too! I can remember hearing 'The Power of Love' by Frankie goes to Hollywood when I was in labour and it always makes me think of her.

I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door
When the chips are down I'll be around
With my undying, death-defying
Love for you

Envy will hurt itself
Let yourself be beautiful
Sparkling love, flowers
And pearls and pretty girls
Love is like an energy
Rushin' rushin' inside of me

On Christmas Eve, a church choir came to the ward and sang 'Once in Royal David's City' so softly in the half-light of the evening. My most magical Christmas ever.:cloud9:

What a beautiful memory! I absolutely love that song and the lyrics are perfect ...

What a mixture - vampires and then the church choir!!

I think my favourite part of xmas is xmas eve when the kids are getting everything ready for santa, getting his milk and cookies out, hanging up their stockings and then we all cuddle up together and read a xmas story. They are all sooooo excited and I just love seeing them tucked up in bed with their faces beaming with excitement for what tomorrow may bring.

I also love decorating the house and wrapping pressies while listening to all me xmas cd's.

Xmas day is also nice and its lovely to spend a day together wy about the time or rushing off for the kids clubs etc.

OH i just love it all actually :santa::santa::santa:

The whole thing I love putting up the tree wrapping all the presents cooking dinner for my family and spending the day with them :lovestruc

spending time with Dh and the boys ,and watching all the children I work with getting more and more excited each week in the run up to christmas

Both DH and I really like Christmas, I must admit though, I'm not one for putting the christmas tree up too early, my birthday is early December and when growing up my Mum always made the effort to seperate my birthday from christmas. DH would put it up next week if he had his way.
With the girls being so small the best bit for me is wrapping their presents and being :santa: when they go to bed. A few pressies at the end of the bed, the rest under the tree, talcum powder footprints up the hallway and eating the mince pie, carrot and milk left out for the big guy, DH and I are usually a bit tipsy at this stage and fight over who gets the mince pie and who gets the carrot, we have been known to break the carrot and throw it down the garden so it can't be discovered in the bin!

As I get older I do look forward to the meal out on Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner itself. Boxing day with DH's family is nice as I get to have a rest!
