I am planning to get a table at my church's Rummage sale in June. I am pretty crafty and would like to maybe make something to sell along with the odds and ends from around my house that I plan on bringing. When I say crafty, I don't mean like I make knitted toilet paper covers or something...LOL. I can paint, create iron on transfers, sew, etc...
I would like to hear what types of things fellow DISers are interested in buying at a sale. What do you look for? I am hoping your replies will help me to plan what to sell. I am open to anything...but I cannot sell food(too bad, because I bake, too!)....Thanks for you're input!

Do you do paper crafts? How about homemade cards or scrapbooking pages? You could pre-make some summer scrapbooking pages, where people just have to add their pics. You could even take specialty orders for specific themes (summer camp, first day of school, beach, etc.)

Same with fabric crafts. Take orders for people going on vacation...make matching tshirts for the whole family!

Make some cute summer flipflops. You can add beads, jewels, cute fabric strips. Make some cute tote bags for the summer....I just bought a homemade tote this weekend made of baseball fabric. Perfect to take to DD's softball games and then to our local minor league ball games!:)

I just hit up an AWESOME church sale on Sunday. It wasn't crafty- they were selling used toys, furniture, dishes, etc. They were doing a pretty good job, if you want to weed out some stuff in your house!!

Good luck!

Hair bows, headbands, etc. I am always looking for cute ways to keep DD's hair out of her eyes... Oops... I sound like my mother.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do! In my experience, though, folks who usually attend these types of rummage sale events are looking for real bargains (ok, steals!) and are reluctant to pay a fair price for quality, hand-crafted items.

Hope you hit on something that works for you!

I would agree with this. I don't go to rummage sale expecting to buy handcrafted items. I am looking for cheap deals.

(I'd just hate for you to make a bunch of stuff up and not be able to sell it. I think the items you're mentioning would do better at a craft or holiday fair vs a rummage sale.)

We have a local retired, widowed lady that makes dish scrubbies in all colors and different designs. 1 simple one only takes her a couple of minutes to make and she sells them for $3. She has a bedroom in her house that is all scrubbies, material and a few other things she makes. She sells them at the local farmers market on Saturdays and has a table at a couple of craft shows before the holidays.

It's simple, inexpensive and very useful....which is great in my opinion. We wash ours in the dishwasher to keep them clean.

I also love the idea of pre-made scrapbook pages. There are so many themes....summer vacation, school, beach, Disney, new baby, pets, all holidays....
