When I'm doing weights I don't listen to anything. Cardio is another story. Anything from Disney music to 80's to techno dance. Not only does it make the time pass faster, it helps me keep pace.

What do you listen to and does it help you keep up the pace?

This will sound weird, but when I am jogging, I count in my head. I just repeat "one, two, three, four" over and over with every step I take. :) It helps me keep my pace even and keep my breathing under control.

When powerwalking alone, I listen to the sounds of nature. :) When powerwalking with my husband or sister or both, we just gab the whole time.

Lifting weights - I have the TV on. This is not a good thing, because I can get involved in what's on TV between sets and let too much time pass between exercises!

I do Curves, so I listen to their upbeat soundtrack. I did burn a CD of some of my favorite up-tempo songs to use when I workout at home. If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher and Total Eclipse of the Heart are good ones to use. :)

When i go to the gym, I never bring a headset. Not because I don't like it, but cause I'm too cheap to buy a personal CD player! LOL! :)

They have a radio on, and it's usually 80's metal. They also have TVs, and I usually watch the news.

If I DID take a CD player, I'd probably take a Broadway CD. I know that sounds really odd, but if I take the ones that have the entire show, it's amazing how quickly the time flies.

I listen to nothing when I'm at the gym using weights. When I'm using the elliptical I usually turn the television on to Animal Planet or something to keep my attention away from the length of time I've been on the elliptical.

nativetxn - you really don't like the elliptical, do you? ;)

I love to listen the the Disney Millenium CD (Illuminations 2000: Reflections of Earth, Tapestry of Nations, etc.) while on the treadmill. It's about 45 minutes total, which gives me a good walk.

It sounds like we listen to/watch all kinds of stuff. I find it interesting what people do to help them get through a workout.

I try to bring something different every few days - Disney CDs, The Beach Boys Greatest Hits, Beatles 1 , all those NOW CDS my kids wanted, Greatest Hits of the 80s, anything upbeat. My favorite workout song right now is "Start the Commotion" by Wise Guys because they keep repeating - Get up, get up put the body in motion . :)
