What do you like to do on the day you travel home?

For our trip in January we have a 4pm return flight. I've planned a late breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. Then we will probably do a few favorite rides at MK before heading to the airport.

My last 2 trips (2024/2023) I had earlier flights so it was wake up and get ready to leave. This past Nov we did have time to go the food court for breakfast. Last year breakfast was at the airport. Back in late Dec 2020 my daughter and grandson ( 5 at the time) had a 8pm flight so our ME ride picked us up by 5pm and we couldn't have been in the airport more than 10 minutes when our phones both pinged letting us know our flight was changed from 8p, to 11pm. It was awful. I know I've flown later in the day before and since I'm a worrier it's hard for me to just relax and have fun on departure day. I just want to concentrate on one thing and that's packing up and getting home.

If we're stuck taking a flight this late we go to a park or Disney Springs - usually the Springs. Lately we've been getting flights that leave around 3p and for them we just sleep in, pack and leave the room by the 11a checkout.

I would book time at one of the mini golf courses after breakfast and have a low key easy morning! Our like someone else said, book your next Disney vacation by the pool LOL (when you book your next trip within Disney property or up to 7 days after your trip you get a discount on your next stay: 25% Value hotels, 30% Moderate hotels and 35% for Deluxe. It's only the stay, park entrance tix stay the same.) @OP95

We usually get the red eye back to London at about 9pm so we give our bags to bell services and spend the whole day by the pool have some beers lunch etc... Get to airport at 6pm get some dinner at airport and try to sleep as much as possible on flight back.

Usually our visits are normally 2-3 days, long weekend trips, so we book a late flight home (9 or 10pm) to enjoy a park. But we always have work the next morning, so landing around midnight is hard, and it can feel overwhelming to jump straight back into work. This coming weekend trip in mid-January our flight departs at 4pm and lands at 6pm. So Sunday will be our AK day since we think we can get everything done before 1:30pm. Honestly, if we could afford the time off, I would leave for WDW one day earlier for our trip so we could fly home in the AM on Sunday.

I'm really excited to just order take-out and relax at home -- that little bit of down time should help me feel better about going to work tomorrow.

On my previous trips I always managed to get morning flights but my upcoming trip in March we don’t leave until almost 7pm. Since it’s only the fiancé’s second trip and he’s never visited the resorts I plan on taking a ride share to one of the resorts for Breakfast before we head to the airport.

Obviously, there's a lot of variables that will factor in to the decision. What time is the flight, how many days is the trip (did we already hit each park?), do we have another day on our park tickets, etc?

With an evening flight, we'd most likely sleep as late as possible, have a bite for breakfast, checkout and leave the luggage with bell services. Usually then, we would probably head to Disney Springs for a few hours. However, when we there a couple of weeks ago on a bit of a spontaneous trip (booked only two weeks beforehand) and with a 7:45pm flight, instead of Disney Springs we decided to resort hop by MK and check out the gingerbread houses & Christmas trees at Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. Then, headed back to our resort (All Star Sports - never again, but I digress). We sat out by the pool for an hour (it was almost 80 degrees) until it was time to uber to MCO.

We always leave at different times, so it varies. If it’s a early-ish flight we just get up and go, of course. If it’s later in the day, we’ve gone to a park for a couple of hours and done a few rides, then grabbed lunch. Other trips we have headed to Disney springs to look around and eat. Last trip we drove, so we got up and hit the road since it’s a two day drive for us. My youngest was so sad to go that he cried all the way out of FL😬 His older sister was not amused. Thank goodness for ear buds, lol!
