What do you like about your home resort the most?

I own at BLT and I love...

  • Boutique hotel feel
  • Bright rooms and unfussy decor
  • Open kitchen
  • Location! Ability to walk to MK, CA Grill or monorail to Citricos or V&As
  • Fun pool slide

BWV

The atmosphere of the boardwalk the shops on the boardwalk, the hustle and bustle with people riding bikes. Being able to walk or boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The views looking across the lake to BC and YC or overlooking the main pool at BWV. The feel of being down at boardwalk and feeling you are at a Resort. Jambo House give you the feel as well. I don't get that same feel when checking in at Saratoga. While we love WL when staying in the hotel, the villas are jsut a bit too distant and no Lobby.

We are staying at Bay Lake, and Beach CLub in April and can't wait to experience those resorts.

things I hate
long corridors
scary clown slide
drunken individuals at the pool bar
perfect bodies
outlanders viewing from the map point
rude people
people stealing my space under the umbrellas
full pools
having to share buses
having restaurants too close
perfect planners with all their food entertainment etc booked
people with too much money
the smell of cooking drifting over the pool area
too much sun
the heavy summer rains
gaudy concrete swans and dolphins
flying insects
biting insects

and yet i return !!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

There's something about this list that has me singing (if only in my head) "If you like pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain..."

I realize that you're talking about Walt Disney World, but we love the Villas at the Grand Californian at the Disneyland Resort in California. VGC is small, much smaller than the resorts at WDW, which makes it a little more intimate. The decor is in the California Arts and Crafts still which is very warm and inviting. Probably 2/3 of the views are directly into the theme park (Disney's California Adventure). The walk from the VGC to DCA is minutes; to DL is maybe 5 minutes. The restaurants of the GCH are outstanding. The whole environment is just more intimate.

I couldn't have said it better myself! We are thrilled to own at VGC.

We have stayed at OKW and AKV at WDW. I prefer AKV, but my husband liked OKW better.

We first bought into DVC in 2010 at BLT. We liked the location and the fact that it is on the monorail. My DH and both of my DDs love CR (I personally didn't care where we bought, just as long as we did :goodvibes) so it was a no brainer for them. We will be doing our first stay there in September (we are all very excited about it too). Then this past year (2 days after Thanksgiving) we bought more points into SSR. We originally wanted to buy into BCV but decided the price/point was much smaller and the years on the contract was more. We are very happy with our decision because in January we stayed there for 3 nights in a 1-bedroom and loved everything about the resort. It is so beautiful and so remote which is what we like.

When we purchased OKW in 1997, the only other choice was BWV. We didn't care for BWV, so it was an easy choice. From then on, we were perfectly happy with our 380 OKW points, but when AKV was announced we KNEW we wanted some there too, so that became our second home resort. We are VERY happy with both our choices.

OKW is still our favorite, but AKV is growing on me more each trip I stay there. LOVE the size and layout of the OKW villas, and LOVE the huge balcony/porch. I also think there are very few bad views in all of OKW. AKV has wonderful embiance and the animals and savanna are the true perk there. I need an AKV fix at least every couple years.

I bought at VWL for its beauty and location to MK.
I bought at BLT's because I liked the idea of staying at a monorail resort and location to MK.

Add us to the group that bought SSR sight unseen due to cost, length of contract, proximity to DTD. After we stayed there we loved the colors, winding pathways for scenic walks, peacefulness and a small town feeling.

A few years later we stayed at BLT & fell in love with proximity to CG (our favorite restaurant), views, monorail, the castle, the decor & to us the overall Disney Magic feeling we just can't explain but we have a level of excitement there that we don't get at the other resorts.

We loved staying at BLT for NYs a while back but our wait list never came through & we could NOT get NYE. Hated moving back & forth for that one night & knowing we want to go back for the holidays, we sold SSR & recently bought BLT resale.

We love ALL the DVC resorts & will continue to visit our first love on occasion, but we are so thrilled to own BLT & can't wait for first trip HOME for the week of July 4th!

Our home resort is BCV. We love the Epcot area so much. Being able to take a 5 minute walk from our villa through International Gateway to World Showcase in priceless. A quick boat ride to HS and mini golf is great!

SAB...best pool on property! Love the sand bottom, the lazy river and my kids love the jib slide!

The overall resort feel is great. Relaxing elegance is the best way to describe BCV for us. All this with great access to the nightlife of the Boardwalk.

Oh, and my personal fav...Beaches & Cream! Can't wait to get a No Way Jose Sundae!

BWV - We love the feel and location of BWV's. We have small children, so walking distance to a park is a huge plus. Also, the Standard View rooms with the lower points are a nice bonus to stretch a trip.

BLT - Again, Location! Different booking categories are nice. It's so nice to just walk to MK in the morning or after the fireworks when everyone is fighting for a bus or boat.

ANY WDW resort- it is not home, it is WDW

AKV- The animals, hands down. We stayed pre DVC at AKL prior to our first cruise and loved the location. DW and I had been to WDW 17 0
or 18 times prior (we were CM's at DLR for a while) and had stayed in moderates and at Hotel Plaza many times so this was great.

SSR- Ambience, I am not one for long hotel hallways (the one thing I do not like about Kidani, but I will easily overlook it) and I love the look of the resort, especially THV

VGC- Do not own there, probably won't, but love staying there when in Anaheim. Love having private entrance to DCA.

I would love to try BLT, but SWMBO (DW) does not like the theming. Also would like to stay at BWV and BCV to see them, might try to take a No Kids (no TEENS) trip again, see the nightlife there, plus walking to Epcot.

Agree with location, location, location! Our home resort has a private entrance to a theme park ... that's amazing. (When we first did the tour, I said, wow all this luxury is amazing and completely wasted on us since we just want to be as close as we can get to the park!)

If we ever decide we'll make it out to Florida enough and want to add WDW points, we'd probably add on at BCV just for the easy access to Epcot (despite the fact that I'm not a fan of beachy decor). I'll find out this winter, but it will probably still be my favorite park (DHS & AK didn't exist last time I was at the World ...).

We own at VWL and for me, the standout is the peace and tranquility of the place is what appeals to me most. After a day at the park, no place beckons me like the Lodge.

:) We had never been on AKV protperty when we purhcased. DH and i had always wanted to stay there but just never made it over. He was the one that "had to own there"..I didn't care and just wanted to be on property. He made a terrific decision. Unfortunately for me, DH is a DVC purist and won't stay at other resorts. I would love to try them but he ins't interested at all and thinks that AKV is hands down the BEST resort.

Reasons for him picking AKV...animals, animals, animals. We also have a dark decor to our home which makes AKV more inviting and comfortable.

We live on the Gulf Coast so BCV, BW and OKW didn't have as much of an appeal..SSR was huge to us...BLT too modern...VWL reminded DH too much of his days fighting forest fires and being at the National Parks. :confused3

But I think they are all terrfic in their own way and you can't really make a bad decision.

And again....DH mentioned that the THVs looked interesting the other day...

Before we were DVC members we had never been to the Boardwalk resort. After having diner at Flying Fish I was hooked. For the next year I did all the research on-line about DVC. As they say "ran the numbers" and convinced by wife it was for us. We had never stayed or seen a DVC villa but we knew Boardwalk was for us. There were so many reasons for our choice. Other resorts have great dining and nice pools and great locations too, but;
Boardwalk is a destination at Disney for so many. Where is there great dining? Boardwalk. Where is there dancing? Boardwalk. Where is there carnival games, where are there street performers? I could go on and on about Boardwalk.

We are just so glad this is our HOME

We own at OKW because, when we purchased in 1993, it was the only DVC. And that's where we still prefer to stay. We like the size of the units and the balconies, the ability to park right outside the door, the golf course views, Turtle Pond pool, and the boat to DTD.

We own at KV yes it is remote but only 1stop and the quietness of the resort is fantastic and the animals and lights at night.

We bought at OKW two years ago. We love it!

1) We drive to FL and to the parks, so we love parking right outside of our unit.
2) You can't walk to a park, but OKW is centrally located and it does not take long to drive to any of the parks.
3) Laid back retreat from the busy parks.
4) We no longer live in Florida, so we enjoy staying somewhere that feels like Florida when we visit.
5) Spacious units with two queen beds in the 2nd bedroom - no one has to sleep on a pullout.
6) Two bedroom units for not much more than the points for a one bedroom at some of the other resorts.
7) Condo feel rather than hotel feel.

I don't know if we'll ever add on, but if we do I would choose between BWV, AKV or more points at OKW.

AKV - Love the themeing and Savanna views.

BLT - Just sold it. Style was not for us and proximity to MK was not a factor.

GFV (soon) - Looking forward to owning at WDW's Flagship Resort

:thumbsup2
