I live in the desert. We have a saying - Do not put your hand or your foot where your eye cannot see. I have a friend who was bitten on her upper leg. They had to keep removing parts of her thigh and she nearly lost her entire leg. It was horrifying. Scorpions and black widows don't scare me, but the recluse is another story.

What desert do you live in...I spent the first 12 years in Joshua Tree and now the last 8 in Yuma...my friend was hospitalized with his arm swelling to water melons size..I have yet to see scorpions or widows... but I live in a massive housing complex so every thing is sprayed.. just termites and crickets

Oh, man, don't I know it. I once witnessed this woman holding a kid, maybe a tad older than a baby, in line for Spaceship Earth, and that kid kept leaning over and sucking on the handrails! The mom would notice and make her stop, but then she'd get right back at it. I guess that kid's gonna grow up with one tough immune system!

Any kind of bug.

Pretty much anything else is fine and I can just wash my hands if I touch something dirty/gross.

I just don't want to touch a bug because I'm worried it will then bite me or crawl on me.
