Hi
I haven't been on this wish board for probably 2 years now. I'll give you some backround.
About 4 years ago I joined weight watchers and lost 65 pounds (took me about 14 months). I was so happy! I went to the gym about 3 times a week and religiously went to WW meetings every Friday morning. Well 2 years ago I started working again(now that the kids were both in school full time) and this has just done no good for my weight. No more meetings and gym workouts. Needless to say I have put about 25 pounds back on and I'm just disgusted.
Well I went back to the gym this week and I just got back from a workout this morning. I feel so good right now but am worried I'll lose my motivation.
I get home from the gym and my husband asks me if I want to go out to eat tonight. It's a Mexican restaurant. Not exactly low fat!

So anyway how do you stay motivated? All tips appreciated!

How I stay motivated:

1) I take it one day at a time. I don't think long term. I just think of today.
2) When I'm having a good day, I revel in it and try to keep those good vibes in mind for when I'm having not such a good "diet" day.
3) Trying on my smaller sized clothes
4) Getting compliments from people
5) Looking at "before" pics and where I am today is a big motivator
6) starting and/or participating in challenges on WISH
7) the way I feel after a good work out - the "execise high"
8) do not cheat - cheating is the kiss of death to my motivation and self-esteem; and finally
9) I love collecting WISH clippies! They really keep me motivated!

Those are just some of the things that motivate me to get to goal. I would have to say WISH has been one of my ultimate secrets. I have several friends, including my DH, who started SBD with me and are still going strong. No one has lost the amount of weight that I have and they have all cheated in some form or other. I think having WISH on my side makes all the difference in the success I am experiencing. The people on WISH are like a support group, you can cry on their shoulders, whine about your lack of progress, brag about your progress when things pick up and just generally encourage one another. So, don't stay away from this board. Even if you don't have time to post often, read the goings on. Join a challenge to stay focused. I've started a lose 5 pounds in January challenge, the WW people have a thread, the SBD people have one, the exercisers have several. Once you make yourself accountable and start collecting the clippies, you will be surprised how they can keep you from cheating or motivate you to exercise when you just don't feel like.

I'm sure other WISHers will post what motivates them. I WISH you well on your weight loss journey! :flower:

- thinking back to why I lost the weight - heart disease is hereditary
- wanting to wear my spring/summer clothes again this yr
- putting on a bathing suit next wknd when we go to Portsmouth, NH hotel w/indoor pool - again in March to the Cape w/indoor wave pool
- using fitday every day (even when Im off track) helps - when I get back on track I make up for those extra lbs (over the holidays)

It's really something I struggle with myself. WISH is huge for me, as is my WISH buddy who daily motivates me and encourages me ::yes:: I also look at pictures of me "before" and remind myself that it's somewhere I DO NOT want to go to again. I try to visualize myself at where I want to be - how I want to look, the clothes I want to wear, etc and that encourages me as well. ::yes:: Set a small goal - maybe 10% of the total amount you want to lose and set up a reward for yourself when you get there- maybe a new outfit, a manicure, a new book something just for you and use that as your motivation to keep working toward your goal. ::yes::
