What do you do to stay dry on Kali River Rapids

11 years ago in January- we went on the Rapids. It was like the coldest January of record at that point. I got the hot seat and was soaked and I was wearing jeans! The wait at this point was like 45 min. I came off the ride laughing and a woman who was about to get on- looked at me and says to the CM- yeah, I'm not riding and walks away after seeing me! I'm like- really??!! :)

Avoid wearing anything cotton - wet cotton will definitely make you FEEL wetter for longer!

Nothing. I've covered myself like a mummy once and I still got soaked because I was in the chosen seat. I just wear my crocs and wear thin shorts now that will dry easily. The seats are mostly wet already so your bottom will still suck up all that water!

If I didn't want to get wet I wouldn't go on Kali. Lol

If it's a must do I have no idea!!

Saran Wrap? Tarp? Take your clothes off? :rotfl2:

Unless I can ride at the end of the day, I don't ride. I rode early in the afternoon one visit and, of course, my shorts got drenched. I walked around the park all afternoon in wet shorts because with the humidity at Animal Kingdom, they never dry. My skin was chaffed and I broke out. Never again.

I totally get why one would not want to get soaked, but still experience the rest of the ride. We had early morning FP+ for it on our last trip and didn't want to be soaked for our early lunch ADR. So, we wore our ponchos. So did the other families on our "raft". The woman across from me got the worst of it. The force of the water pouring on her actually pushed her poncho hood back and off her head, so all that water went right down the inside of her poncho :) So, you might want to hold your poncho hood tight just in case.

I wear my bathing suit under my clothes, put clothes and shoes in a locker before the ride, put on quick dry shorts and flip flops with my bathing suit, ride and get soaked. Dry off with small towel I brought and change back into my clothes (also bring underwear). I don't ride it every time, but this is what I do.

Don't sit next to me. Seriously. My family always argues about who is going to sit next to me because I always seem to get the lucky seat. Poncho, no poncho - doesn't matter - I come off the ride soaked.
I bring cheap flip flops for the ride if I'm not wearing fast drying shoes to change into before I get in line. Then I put all of my stuff into one of the free lockers.

What I do is have it be the last ride of the day for me so I can go back to my resort and dry off. You could always bring a change of clothes with you if you plan on staying in the park after you ride it.

THIS! We scheduled KR as our last ride (we had FP) and left right after. We also wore dri-fit clothing. We were dry by the time we got on the bus. I was in a hot seat and totally soaked. No poncho. Didn't have chafing problems either.

I second the change of clothes. I had the luck of being in the magic seat and water poured not into my pants but into my UNDERpants. And I was wearing a poncho. I don't think there is any amount of raingear that can fully prevent you getting wet.

I hate getting soaked, so I don't ride water rides anymore. I even tried the poncho thing, and was still too wet.

My post was asking how to get a little less wet not come out of it bone dry.
Well then the answer is obvious, you need a full body dry suit. It will be a bit on the warm side though...
