I usually watch a movie that I never have time to watch. I will also bake or read a good book.
There is also shovelling to be done so when DH gets home he doesn't have to do it.(I'm such a good wife..........)
I am a school busdriver in extreme se MI and we have a snow day. I drive in the district my kids attend and i got the call before the kids were up. They're still sleeping (2 hours past thier usual wake-up time) and I'm deep cleaning my room - drawers, shelves, closets etc. Later I hope to fold socks, iron, play a couple of games and fight the kids for the computer so I can DIS!
DD has an extra day to study for high school mid-terms. You'd think she'd be happy .......... but no! This means she has her last exam after the weekend instead of before the weekend. She really, really wanted to get them over with. My DH says that it's because she has so much material in her brain right now that she's afraid that if she doesn't unload it soon her brain will explode and she'll lose everything she studied.
So, I've got a surly teen at home today. Send me some DIS support!
Hope the rest of you have some snow fun.
DIS and eat and then have a snack and then DIS...oh and then I eat and DIS at the same time! Big Daddy went shopping for me last night and got all my favorites. What a peach!
My companies motto is "snow is expected and so are you" so I am about to venture out. Truth be told, I love driving in the snow. I think it's kind of fun unless the traffic is backed up. If I were staying home, though, I'd bake, then bake some more, and then.......bake some more!!! In between baking I would read my book, play on the DIS, and watch movies. Happy snow day!! Stay safe!!
This is my kids 8th snow day this season so they have lost their luster. Normally I try to keep them from annoying each other. Today we happen to be picking up our new dog (leaving in 10 minutes! Snow won't stop us!) so that will be what occupies them today!
I am having carpet installed, one room down two to go, so I stayed home yesterday. I hope that he shows up today with the snow. There is no point in dusting or cleaning because it will just reappear. Carpeting is dusty stuff! I hope he shows up early if he is coming so I can get to the gym before the weather gets worse. In the meantime, here I am!
Sitting here waiting to see if our 'delayed opening' turns into a snow day! If it does I will be cooking and baking, like usual when we get a snow day.
For all that have a snow day, enjoy it!
It would be nice to get a beach day once in a while.
No offense, but I am glad the snow stayed south of Wisconsin.
It is so cold outside and we all have cabin fever.
It isn't pretty.
When it snows, it just makes it much worse having to stay indoors.
Make some beef stew in the crock pot.
It will smell delicious all day.
I had to say something nice,
since I was a "schmuck" with my first comment.
I think we are the only LI school district without a delayed opening or closing. My preschool is closed but my DD had school at regular time so I get the computer and the Wii to myself today.
provided we have power, we will probably be watching a movie and just hanging out in our pj's around the house. but, the power situation is already pretty iffy because of the ice so we will probably spend today in a hotel, hopefully one with a pool.
It is rare for us to get a snow day but when we do I just hide in the house. I will watch tv snuggled under a blanket with a cup of tea. Or I will chat on the phone with friends who are off and that I don't get to talk to often. Read a book. Whatever as long as I don't have to go out in the snow.
Relax. I teach Kindergarten so usually weekdays are exhausting for me. Haha. So snow days are a nice day for me to sleep in, watch movies, bake some cookies, play on the computer, maybe scrapbook...things like that.
Loving that today is one of those days.
