What do you do after you check out, and you are not ready to say good-bye???

This is depressing. We drive to and from WDW so we usually just pack up and leave. On leaving day, I am so envious of all of the people who are just beginning their vacation. I don't feel like I belong anymore.....knowing that I have to leave very soon.
I know exactly what you mean...I can't even stand to look at those lucky people at the check in desk as we are walking out!

Ariel WB,

That is precisely why I used express Check out, so I didn't have to be envious of the people checking in !! I just put all the suitcases in the car and took off. (This was at Pop Century, where each building is separate from the building where you check in.)

We spent our last day at Downtown Disney shopping and at Chef Mickeys for breakfast. It was the perfect way to say goodbye. (Although I did spend a boatload of money at DTD for souveniers!)

My leaving plans were spoiled - I came down with a cold on my last full day! Luckily it wasn't too bad that day (just a sore throat and abit of a sniffle), but my last day I was into a full blown cold (which even though it's been a month still hasn't gone completely away!)

Originally we had planned on going to DTD and having a nice lunch and checking out the shops one last time, but we ended up spending the day sitting at the pool reading a book (checked out at 10am, and didn't leave the resort till 5pm...). Atleast I got more of a sun tan...

Our goodbye is different from above. First we go to MGM and ride TOT several times before saying goodbye there. Then we head over to MK, go through the castle and over to HM. Ride HM and then go on TTA. After that we hit Buzz--since DS was 5 this has always been our "last ride". We then go to the ice cream shop on Main Street and sit outside with one last longing look at the Castle. Then we cry on the bus back to pick up our things!

I think the reason your response was so different was that you had park admission. ;)

She asked what they could do since they *don't* have a ticket for their last day.

Our good-bye is always DTD. We like to save the shopping for last and then head to the airport. The only problem is that we normally take 2 crying children on the plane because their aunt lives in Florida. Leaving is always hard though. Once we are gone we start counting towards our next trip.
Good luck and enjoy!

We used to feel the same way, especially when the kids were small and it was 2 to 3 years between trips. Now that the kids are grown and we are members of DVC we are going at least twice a year...smjj

After checking out at CSR, we rented surrey bike and biked around and stopped at each section and walked around the Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas where we stayed at, and just biked around the lake ..very nice..enjoyed it a lot! It was raining that day and we just had fun in the rain. We swam too while it was raining.

Then there are times when we just go to DTD and do our last shopping.

You're right! I missed that *don't* part!! Sorry guys--senior moment at 36!! Please disregard my earlier post since it won't work for the OP!!! I get so excited about posting, sometimes I don't even see all the words in the original post. That can be DANGEROUS!!!

We always go to Downtown Disney and do our shopping then. We always eat lunch there before heading back to Jax.

We usually spend the time around the pool until we have to leave for the airport around 3:30 to 4:00. We've also rented water mice at the Poly, and one time had breakfast at Cape May. When we drive we've done things like Disney Quest, and/or the Belz Outlet on the way out of town. I think in April we'll end with brunch/lunch at Fresh.

I think if I checked out in the morning and had until late afternoon...I would probably have breakfast one of my favorite spots: Kona Cafe, Fresh (Dolphin), or Garden Grove (Swan). I would probably play a round of miniature golf at Fantasia. Then I would either go shopping at Downtown Disney OR head over to Fort Wilderness. It would depend on whether or not I had done enough shopping during the trip, or enough playing at Fort Wilderness. We love to go there. You can canoe which is so much fun, rent bikes, walk the trails, visit the horse barn, it's a great escape. I would have lunch somewhere fun...if we were at Downtown Disney I might eat at Wolfgang Puck or grab a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich. Eatin' ain't too fancy at Fort Wilderness. :confused3 Not sure what I would do about that...probably take the boat launch to the CR and eat at Concourse Steakhouse. If time allowed, I'd definitely take a monorail ride around and stop at each resort for a drink.

There's plenty to do...

We're staying at CR and I thought it would be fun this year I to have the "my first manicure and pedicure" at GF for my DDs, and of course regular manicure and pedicure for myself, so we'll be relaxed and beee-a-utiful for our return flight.

:flower3:

We always spend the last day on a last minute shopping spree at Once Upon a Toy in DTD and grab a bite to eat. Last time we grabbed a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich. Incredible!! The pizza at Woflgang Puck Express is also delicious.

Our last day tradition is a character breakfast in MK-one last view of the castle and then we head to Downtown Disneyfor the rest of the morning and early afternoon to shop and hang out. Usually we hit up Disney Quest too. When we are done, we eat something to hold us off and head back to catch our airport bus. It keeps our last day relaxing!

We like to have a character breakfast mid-morning on our departure day. Then you could grab a bus to Swan/Dolphin and play a little mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens. Go to DTD and do some final shopping. We try to wait until this shopping trip to get most of our souveniers. Then, we just have them box it up and ship it home. It's almost like Christmas a week or so later when the box arrives, full of WDW stuff. Since you don't pay tax if it's shipped it isn't so bad to pay the shipping costs.
We also like to have a last swim at the resort. Then a bite to eat and off to the airport. Any or all of these things depending on your departure time. Doesn't make it any easier tho.

We always end up at DTD too!!! We do our last minute shopping and have lunch. My son loves to the ride the train and go for one last romp in the water fountains. :umbrella: I pack extra clothes and a plastic bag to take his wet clothes home in. I let him run around as much as possible hoping he will sleep on the plane. My last minutes in Disney always end up in DTD parking lot trying to fit everything I just splurged on into our suitcases!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We like to spend our last day doing our favorite rides again or doing the ones we missed. It always sends us off with some extra pixie dust :goodvibes
