What do you buy your parents for Christmas?

On another forum I am on someone posted that she is making her grandfather a month's worth of dinners for his freezer!

I thought that was an excellent gift!

you would have to know them to understand -- they are elderly and want nothing. They are simple, simple people. I bought them a case of chunky soup for one of their gifts.

They will be thrilled!

I will make sure they have several bags of grands biscuits in the freezer to go with them since you can make just a few at a time.

Does that sound like the craziest gift ever? Well, like I said....you'd have to know them.

My husband and I are giving my parents my old laptop (getting it updated by a guy at work) a laptop bag and a printer. For my inlaws...oh gosh, no clue. If they want something, they buy it. The only think they really like to do for activities is go to the casino...so perhaps a night stay/gaming package?

I have also gotten movie gift cards, gift cards to Atlantic City, grocery store gift cards. They are pretty unappreciative of anything you get them so I'm not sure if they liked any of it!

EBAY!!! My mom has a china set she got in the 50s that was not a brand name. They are weird square plates with large plants on them. Anyway, back in the 60s she broke a plate, so her set has been imcomplete for decades. One time when I was at my parents, I looked at the bottom of one of the plates, and noted the manufacturer. I went to ebay and found a dinner plate. I also found pieces that she never had - soup bowls, tea pot, vegetable trays... She is amazed that I am able to complete her service 50 years later!!

We bought my IL's a gift certificate a gift card for BedandBreakfast.com. That way they can pick where and when they want to go. They had a deal for $125 and you get $25 too. We are giving them both.

Thank you so much for mentioning that website. I think that would be a wonderful gift for my FIL and MIL. Right now they are having a special on a $250 GC and you get a $75 one, I'm thinking I may ask my SILs and BIL if they want to go on it all together.

Last year we bought my in-laws some coffee mugs with DS's pic on them using a code someone from DISboards from Kodak.com. Gave them both a mug, country ham, some nice coffee, jams they like, honey etc. Told them they could have breakfast w/ DS everyday! Like the PP who bought Chunky soup, you'd have to know them. They loved the gifts. Now I have to figure out this years gifts!
