What do you buy now - what do you wait for Black Friday?

Sorry, the grammar in the title is horrible but I couldn't fit what I wanted to fit, lol.

So...what kinds of stuff are you buying NOW vs what are you waiting until Black Friday to buy?

I keep seeing deals on things that I can't imagine will get any lower, but...then I think "what if..."

I've finally decided that if it's something I KNOW someone wants and has asked for, I'll buy it now (if I see a good deal or have a coupon) but if it's something else, I'm waiting.

How about you...and what is it?

And one last ? I have a 25% off coupon for the Disney store good this weekend - use it to buy all my Disney stuff for the holidays or wait? (Specifically looking for some princess clothing for my BFF's girls).

If its a hot item then I buy it when I see it. For other stuff on my list I will check the ads leading up to black friday and the online black friday previews. Then I decide whether its worth getting up in the wee hours of a november morning to wait on the cold. It all depends on how much I can save by being a part of the chaos. I also bank on there being lots of black friday/ cyber monday deals being our there. For the disney store stuff I would get it this weekend. If it goes on sale for less before the holidays you can always return and repurchase,

I am faced with the same problem. I've been checking all of the black friday sites to see what things are going for. Honestly, the deals advertised in sales on weekends now are pretty close. I have decided that if its a few dollars off (like $10.00 and under) I'm just going to buy it now and save myself the hassle of black friday.

I buy now and save receipts. If I find a better sale (significantly... making it worth my time to run around) I return the item I have and repurchase at the lower price. I have found over the years that prices before black Friday are usually close or better than after. Wait until December any you will pay more. :santa:

As much as we enjoy doing some shopping on black friday, the problem of waiting is that you are taking a chance on a hot toy/ buy to be out of stock!

Get the stuff while it's on sale & keep the receipt, best case scenario, if on black friday it's a mega deal, you can get it and return the other one. Some stores even honor price adjustment if something gets cheaper within 2 weeks.

Have fun shopping :goodvibes

I also find this true. Items are cheaper before BF unless it is a big ticket item in the store on BF.

Here's what I've bought so far:

(4) of the $50 iTunes cards that Walmart had for $35. I really doubt I'll do any better than that (and our Walmart had lots of them, no getting up at 3am and waiting in the cold for hours.

(2) of the $288 laptops at Walmart. Same reasoning as above.

Star Wars Lego set for my nephew (10) that I got at Borders with a 40% of coupon.

Squinkies and Zoobles for my niece (7). The squinkies are flying of the shelves here so I got them while I could. Zoobles aren't going as fast but they're not plentiful.

North Face Denali Fleece jacket for my daughter for $65. It's last years style, but she won't care.

DVD's (Rush Hour 3, Outsiders, Pelican Brief, one of the Screams - and two others), can't remember which ones) in the clearance bin for $2/each. I find they make great stocking stuffers for teens.

did you find the North Face?
Thanks!

When it comes to gifts, I don't wait. If I see something I want to buy someone, and I have the money, I buy it.

The pre-orders at Amazon.com have been my best friend this holiday season! I have been pre-ordering items as I see them, to make sure that (A) I don't forget what it is I wanted to buy and (B) living in a small city, I don't have the access to larger stores.

I purchased my son's big gift a couple of months ago - now it is sold out.

All I have left to get now are some GC's and stocking stuffers.

DH and I are going to Las Vegas in January, so that is our gift to each other.

It is a HUGE relief to be almost done with holiday shopping!

Why get up at 3 am the day after Thanksgiving when in today's world, Black Friday lasts for up to 3 months?

In the past many years, everything that I've seen with "Black Friday" pricing has been that price from that famed day on through well into the new year.

On top of that, it's mostly electronic stuff, and most of the Black Friday electronic stuff is the bottom of the barrel junk.

I have already bought everyone's Christmas Gifts. I shop the sales for household items and extras - not for presents.

I've done most of my shopping already. As much as I love the rush of black friday, I'm not looking for door busters (TV's, computers, etc) so standing in a really long line to save $5 just isn't in me this year. A lot of my shopping ahead of time is that my husband now works BF, so most of the shopping I can't do with kids in tow, so instead we'll get up at a reasonable hour and do Bath and Body works and just the mall itself. Today I did American Eagle with a 20% off and I also did aeropostale and alot of that store was 50% off already.

did you find the North Face?
Thanks!

I got it a couple of months ago on 6pm.com

I buy toys now...it's always hard to find toys after Black Friday, everything seems picked over.
This week I bought Beyblades, Air Hog Motor Cycle Guy, and the Evil Dr. Porkchop vs Buzz Lightyear spaceship.

DD17 19" LCD TV (Target)
North Face jacket (6pm.com)
DD21 32gb Zune HD (Walmart)
DD8 Various Disney Blu rays (TRU)
VSmile Portable (Target), games
I Carly/Just Dance 2 Wii games (Gohastings)
DH Scooba (Woot)
DBIL 2nd season of FTroop (Amazon)
Tshirt (Gohastings)
DMIL Gone With the Wind Watch (Kmart)
Me Preordered Epic Mickey (Disney Shopping)
Pets Stockings with treats/Kong toys
Still to buy:
DVD burner for DH
Stocking stuffers
Ipod for me!
DVDs or something for my mom & dad
Trying to compare the current deals with the BF ads posted. So far, the sales I got are either comparable to BF, or not available on BF.

I have a cart saved on Amazon, partly as the kids' list & also so I can look at prices over the weeks. So far it looks like I may just decide to order most from there to save hitting several different stores.

Penney's today was a madhouse & just not sure I'm in the mood for that this year. I bought PJs for all kids & slippers for DD today since they had a good sale. Last year, I had trouble w/DD16 because her size ran out. I bought them under what I had budgeted so I'm happy.

It's a little easier now that the kids are older & not into the hot toy items. I already bought some things & the rest I'll wait on to make sure MIL doesn't buy them when we go shopping at Thanksgiving.
