We'll have 2 days/dinners in Epcot, and our first is Via Napoli - its our favorite and there's no changing that one!

But, for dinner #2, we're pondering La Hacienda since (1.) we've never eaten there, (2.) its not Italian food like Via Napoli, (3.) DH and I do enjoy some good queso and tacos!

We'll be there during F&W and will start eating lunch as soon as we get in the park and will want a sit down dinner at 6:30 or 7pm that night....

If not La Hacienda, where would you send us and WHY? Pictures would be even better!

thanks!

I haven't been since the menu changed, but we loved it before. My two favorites aren't on the menu anymore, though (the carnitas and the costillas).

We've been to La Hacienda twice and enjoyed it both times (but it's been a few years). Thought the food was better than San Angel but the atmosphere is nothing special. I'd stick with La Hacienda. We also liked Chefs de France but the current menu isn't particularly appealing and it was REALLY loud inside last time we ate there (but so is Via Napoli, which is why we sit outside).

oooh...both sound yummy!!

maybe they'll add more items back on the menu by November...

I think they were replaced by the Osso Buco (replaced costillas, both are braised short rib dishes) and cochinita pibil (replaced carnitas, both pork dishes). The new dishes may also be good, I just haven't tried them yet.

We've been to San Angel and while we enjoy the ride, shopping and ambience of the building, not so much of the food!

We ate at Chefs on our first or 2nd trip, like 2009/2010, and honestly it was a horrible night bc our oldest had not been drinking enough water, decided at every meal he wanted the cheese plate as an appetizer and it all came to crashing cluster that night at dinner... :crazy2: :rotfl2:

That being said, we'd be up for it too, but I was thinking the menu looked a little lack luster right now so maybe I'm not the only one thinking that too!

I feel like we've gotten great seats at Via and have not found it to be too loud but now that I've said that out loud I'm sure the "restaurant Gods" will curse me now!''

Agree. We enjoy authentic Mexican food and were unimpressed with San Angel Inn, but enjoyed La Hacienda. The atmosphere inside the pyramid is much nicer than La hacienda.

This is a bit off topic, but we've had dinner on the patio of Via Napoli a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Both were around sunset so we sat outside when it wasn't too hot, watched the sun go down and got to enjoy the atmosphere of that little Disney Italy area, which is usually pretty quite since there's no rides back in that area. Something to keep in mind for your meal there, though you may have to wait a bit past your reservation time if you request outside seating.

We've actually been seated the last few times right up at the kitchen which we like! We can watch them make the pizza or the salads/entrees and its not been too crowded (since the tables were pushed apart with COVID restrictions) which makes it a little quieter! The side room and the back room seem super loud!!

and any topic about Disney food/restaurants is good with me!

Would you consider Pub fare? We had a great few lunches at Rose&Crown....once on patio and once inside. Also enjoyed Spice Road. Enjoyed Hacienda once and would definitely return!

Awesome. We aren't locals but have been to Disney a few times over the years with kids that were toddlers up to young adults, and the meals on the patio at Via Napoli stand out as some of the more enjoyable ones, though I suspect that has a lot to do with atmosphere.

the atmosphere and delicious food!!

a winning combination!

San Angel - beautiful atmosphere, terrible food, tables too close together
Hacienda - hectic and unexciting atmosphere, mediocre food

Honestly, if you have even remotely decent Mexican food where you live, would skip both

Do you remember what you guys had? Not specifically but in general?? Im thinking of those shrimp tacos!! ::yes::

and did you get queso??!!

:earseek:

I do believe we got the queso. I got a steak dish with peppers cheese etc and DH got the tacos. The service was spectacular. Plus we ate at like 4pm walk up right when they opened and had the place practically to ourselves.

So then where do you recommend??

Im all ears! :teacher:

In World Showcase, I like Via Napoli, the Japanese places, Spice Road Table, Rose and Crown.
we're already doing Via Napoli (great taste!)

and we've done Rose & Crown before but let me look at the Japanese places and Spice Road...

and secretly I'm hoping the Space 220 restaurant is open by November!!

We have been to La Hacienda a few times, most recently in August 2019 (our last trip). We have always enjoyed it and it was on our short list for our trip next month (the kids specifically requested it). We are going with a group of 12, 4 of whom are vegans, so we made a different choice.
