"Party-line Phone"
If you go up Main Street to the second set of shops on the right (there use to be a table and chairs for playing checkers) there is an old timey phone hanging on the wall and if you pick it up and listen, you can hear two ladies talking away. Like it use to be when there were party-lines. It's cute. I think it's the little things that are the best.

Great thread, Disney Girlie! We're going in Dec, and this will be our 2nd trip this year, so I decided we should slow down and enjoy the "gems" this time around, so I am loving these ideas!

I had looked for that umbrella at MGM for the past 4 trips, so when I finally found it on the last one, I was so excited!! Don't know why it was so hard for me to find!? Guess because it's not on a map.

One of my yummiest discoveries was the beignets at POFQ - YUMMY!!! I might just have to jump over there to get some even though were staying at CBR.

Each time we go to WDW, we go with a different group of people, so it seems like we discover new things depending on which age group we're gearing the touring towards. This trip is our very first "nuclear family" trip, just me, dh, ds4, dd1, and dd1. So we are looking forward to discovering a lot of things for them. For example, I've never seen Storytime with Belle. I'm really looking forward to that!

I never really noticed the jewels in the sidewalk in Adventureland until last year...probably because it was my first trip with kids. My oldest swore it was our chance to get filthy rich! Also we went to the Disney animation thing at MGM for the first time and loved it plus we had great character interaction with Chicken Little and Abby Mallard there. The kids were stoked to see them before their movie even came out. This was also our first time to see Mickey's Philharmagic which is now our all time favorite attraction.

I've never seen Storytime with Belle either so I'm considering seeing that.
I honestly think that you can never be done with exploring WDW.

i know its not that big or a secret but the pathway from toontown to tommarrowland was a big find for us!

That was our big find, too, this last trip! We found it quite by accident and I was so happy we did find it. It's got all the Alice stuff on the path (see my screen name).

Are there any other "secret" paths anywhere else in WDW?

a few things:
1. look under the mat at muppet theatre and you will find a key.
2. at ak, behind tusker house, there is some things set out on the river, also when you are ordering there, look up. Beautiful themed decorations.
3. epcot, where the africa outpost/coke thing is, open boxes.
4. pull the rope by the indiana jones show.

We are always at WDW in July so it's pretty busy in the parks, and we always use this walkway when coming from the Liberty Square direction and going to Splash or Big Thunder. It's a lot less hectic and the scenery there sometimes goes unnoticed by people.

I'd like to know more about paths too.

There is the path that starts at the back of Cinderella castle, goes to the left by the fountain, down to the entrance to Liberty Square, then behind the Christmas shop, in front of the Crystal Palace, then to Casey's, then to the Plazza restaurant, then to the Noodle place.

You then have to go around to the Tomorrowland Terrace to pick up the path that goes back to the rear of Cindy's place.

These paths cut off lots of time getting around crowds.

There is the Geyser path behind ThunderMountain.

For the MK that is it.

The path from POR to POFQ is a nice walk. Our last stay at POR we were in the last room in the last building of POR before you get to POFQ (right next to the bridge). We walked to FQ for the Bus and beignets. There is a path (quite long) from OKW to Saratoga Springs. Discovered it from the boat ride to DD from OKW earlier this month.

As for the umbrella, I fear that is is gone. We went by it the last trip and it wasn't there. I hope it was just down for refurbishment.


I love the back hidden parts of Morocco. It's like something out of Indiana Jones. We discovered the Tangerene Cafe this last trip. It was scrummy (that means good).

I also discovered how different the whole of DisneyWorld can be from the perspective of my wife. I am 6 food and she is barely 5. I got to ride around in a wheelchair/ECV and saw it all from her level. It is very different.

We discovered this last December but it appears to have been removed with the recent renovation to the PotC.....

The pirate who has an eye patch over both eyes.
He used to be on the ship in the battle scene.

Must have been mistaken or they brought it back. The pirate with the eye patches on both eyes was on the ship when we went on Friday night.

What's this about a geyser path by BTMRR that you mentioned? How do you get to it?

If you get out of the ride on the left side, it is at the exit. If you get out at the right go to the left after exiting. There is a Kodak photo spot and a number of geysers there with an observation platform looking at the burning house on TSIsland.

Sometimes they errupt, but, I can't tell you when.

It's funny the things you take for granted...

We always do the umbrella at MGM (it's my favorite.)

Belle's storytime is a GREAT cool down time for the kids. It's like she has some type of magic that gets them to settle down.

Key under the Mat at Muppets is something that we're going to look at this year.

Tattoos - temps anyway - every time we go we all get 1 tattoo - they are right outside of the Muppets show. The cost is about $5-15 and they usually last our entire trip. This year I'm looking for an Alice one.

NEW - the new thing we've started to do is linger in the little cubbies behind some of the shops and shows. Last year we saw Snow White just standing there by herself in a gazebo behind the shops at MK. We also saw Alladin, Jasmine and Genie in a small room behind the Dole Whip shop at MK, just standing around waiting for people. Not to mention the paths at AK have the best characters usually by themselves - don't miss camp mickey and minnie too for some neat character time.


My best discovery though is to go to the judges tent at least 10 mins before closing -- they open all three doors and the kids get to see all the characters and spend as much time as they want with them. The characters will walk the kids out to the street where you can get a great shot of all the characters together infront. It's usually where we spend our first night so the kids aren't afraid of the characters the rest of the trip.

Not a new discovery but we discovered it's really fun to take a day in the World Showcase and just watch all the performers. We love the chair guy in France and the World Showcase Players.

Well.. the Wishing Well behind the Castle was a huge find for us.. cute picture and just a neat moment!

Did you curtsey? If you do you see Cinderella get her crown. The one on the top appears to move onto her head.

As a kid my parents never took us to Tom Sawyer Island. When I started taking my own kids in 1999 we stumbled upon it - we just wanted the cool raft ride - we had no idea where it was taking us. WOW! This is one of the highlights of the MK for my boys. It does take some time - the raft ride over, running around the caves & passageways, playing at the frontier fort, and then the raft ride back. But if you've got at least 45 min. to play around & have a great time experienceing something new - try it!

Make sure you look for paint brushes while on the island. It use to be a secret but know some of the raft drivers tell you about it.
