What did you get and what did you give for Valentine's Day?

DH got me a canister of my favorite tea. It is the honey ginseng from The Republic of Tea and Starbucks. He then surprised me with some beautiful tulips. I bought him candy. I injured my foot this week, so I am on the couch for the weekend. I bought the older boys balloons from the grocery store and doughnuts for breakfast. The baby gets all the hugs and kisses he wants.

We got our two kids a small box of chocolates....as in maybe 5 in the box one with a cat picture one with a dog picture. At this time my husband put a heart shaped box of my favourite candy in my hands and said Happy Valentine's day. He also bought me flower last week so he didn't have to pay a fortune for them today.

I really didn't want or need anything so this was nice.

And cards we don't buy them anymore since my husband by chance bought me the same card a few years in a row but didn't know it. I know this because I saved everyone of them.

We celebrate Valentines Day everyday so no need for a special day for that for us

My husband gave me some Rachael Ray suction lids cause he says I waste too much Saran Wrap. :hyper:

I gave him some hand cream.

I too am off to look up Rachel Ray suction lids, I need something like that, I hate Saran Wrap! Thanks for the idea!!

:sad2:

Just because some people choose to make a day EXTRA special doesn't mean regular days aren't special as well.

DH and I agreed we weren't going to celebrate this year, but at the last minute I snuck a picture my kids drew and some heart shaped reesees into his lunchbox before he left for work yesterday. The he surprised me by coming home early with roses he had ordered weeks ago. I had to laugh since we had promised we weren't doing anything and neither of us could stick to it :)

I got DH an Amibo character for the Wii and bought little gifts for all 3 of the kids (a stuffed animal and some window clings for their room). I haven't received anything, not even a "Happy Valentines Day". Sitting here feeling slightly grumpy now, because I've been cooking and cleaning all day long :(

DH and I woke up to a dead refrigerator this morning, so our gift to each other is a new one. That will also be our Mother's Day, Father's Day, and birthday gifts to each other. Also, the garage door opener pooped out yesterday and the cheap fix we thought would work (new obstruction sensors) didn't. So, we might be "treating" each other to a new garage door opener, too. The joys of home ownership...

We got DD a few dollar store items, a stuffed sock monkey, and a little candy.

Been there... Sorry.

We got each other a card and candy. Funny story, he was in a bad mood, so I thought I would give him his card and candy right after midnight to cheer him up. I told him I had something I wanted him to see and he got all huffy and said "what is it now, its always something, grrr, grrr, grrr." DD is dying laughing, saying mom can't win, you get mad at her even when she is trying to be nice!

I gave my husband and DD15 their bags of goodies and cards. I always put together gift bags with all of their favorite candies in them. I pick things up in January as I see them.

My husband gave me a big box of Godiva chocolates and a card. I love Godiva chocolates so I'm happy. My DD15 did the dishes this morning for me and then said Happy Valentines Day afterwards. LOL

I have also made a cake (vanilla with chocolate frosting) and have the baked potatoes in the oven and the steak is ready to go on the grill. I need to get that on pretty quick here.

We don't do gifts for V-day. But we do love going out for fancy dinners. So we went out last night for juicy steaks, medium rare, and a bottle of Chateau St. John Cinq Cepages. Good gracious, I love that wine!

I received nothing from DH. And I gave nothing to DH.

We agreed not to buy each other candy, flowers, gifts, etc. this year since we just spent 8 nights at Disneyworld with family AND we're leaving on Thursday for a Caribbean cruise with more family. Two big trips in one winter is not normal for us, but when both kids asked us to go on vacation with them how could we refuse? :) THAT is our gift, spending vacation time with family so no need for Valentine stuff this year. Normally we go give each other candy/flowers though, and/or go out for a nice dinner together. The only thing I did this year was mail cards to our younger grandchildren and my Mom.

DH bought me a bag of Ghiradelli milk chocolate & caramel squares last week. He and his daughter broke into them while I was out of town on business this week.

I made reservations for us to get massages and he had a particularly bad day yesterday, so declined the invite. I cancelled the appointment.

I hiked 18 miles this morning, so after a soak in the tub, I passed out on the couch and he covered me up with a blanket and went to watch TV in another room so I could rest. That was the best present ever.

We did go out to dinner last night, to the restaurant where we were engaged. So that was nice.
