What did you forget to bring, do, or buy in your trip to Disney World?

Hi all!

I have two weeks until we leave for my first ever Disney World trip!!! So excited!!
As I sit here and make lists of things to do, buy, or bring I can’t help thinking something will be forgotten.
What did you forget to buy before hand, or forget to bring with you, or forget to do while you were at Disney that you wish you hadn’t?
Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to add.

Thanks!
Christina

I have a digital luggage scale that I LOVE. It worked fine at home to weigh or bags but when it was time to go home, the battery was dead. grrr... I paid some ridiculous amount for a pack of D batteries and I really only needed one. Now, I bring a spare and of course I never need it.

That is definitely one thing I would never have thought of! You assume because you check before you go that the luggage would weigh the same amount. You forget you’ll pick up souvenirs. Thanks for that idea!!!

Hey, I just re-read your post. It's your first time ever??!! Have a magical time!! pixiedust:Good thing you're going after the Thanksgiving holiday mob leaves. :crowded:
Yep!! First time ever!!!!

I spent a lot of time planning this because who knows if I’ll ever get back. I chose the dates specifically for weather and how it falls on a time when the mobs should be fewer.

don’t forget to take some time to slow down and look around and sniff the air. So many first timers are running from attraction to attraction that they don’t notice what makes it so magical. The little touches and the smells are all part of the experience.

Have a great first trip and let us know all about it!

Just wanted to wish you a wonderful trip! You're going at an amazing time of year...WDW is just magical at Christmastime! I joined these boards in 2006 while planning our first trip and am still here so many years later with many trips and memories in the books!

Have an amazing trip! And don't worry, most things that you could forget can be replaced with an Instacart or delivery order!

Too true! Like I’ve told my family, we are going to have fun no matter what that fun looks like. This is going to be a stress free time. If we lose our luggage, oh well my kids love shopping . If our flight is delayed, oh well, we will just appreciate the days we do have. If we dont get a rental car, oh well, that just means I want have to walk as far to go from the parking lot to WDW. If our hotel is overbooked, oh well, we can get a cheaper hotel. How much time will we actually be in a hotel room anyways! I like to plan, but life happens so I more than anyone need to be ready to say, oh well.

I forget that it is possible to order anything these days. Can I order in perfect weather? Lol

Unfortunately, no! But you can still have a great time in less than perfect weather! Just be prepared with layers for the chill or ponchos for the rain! Maybe you won't even have to worry about that though...I just looked and 10-days out is looking very nice :thumbsup2

I usually bring everything but the kitchen sink  but getting better with carry-on and backpack.

Last month, I unfortunately started not feeling well three days in. I had nothing for cough and cold. Beach Club Marketplace had nothing - not even children's cough and cold. They did have cough drops. I picked up Allegra.

Next day felt worse. I walked over to the Yacht Club and they had Mucinex and cough drops. First time I had/cough a cold during my trip and not after. Next trip - bringing some cough and cold medicine/pills.

List or no list, sometimes forget or do not bring something. It happens. Have a great trip!!!

Let me echo the advice not to rush from ride to ride. Walking down MK Main Street, especially, be sure to look UP at the windows and read the inscriptions there. Each one commemorates someone who is important in the history of WDW and MK. If you can’t get the family to slow down on first entry, think about snagging a place on MS before the parade, and look at the windows across the street while waiting. But MK isn’t the only park where it’s worthwhile to slow down and look up - each park has its own details to appreciate.

Life teaches us lessons. When you have a 1.5 yr old running amok in the airport while you're attempting to move items from one overweight bag to another, with your bags opened up and your dirty laundry on display, all while holding up the line growing behind you, then yes, you get home and search for a good luggage scale. :guilty: :thumbsup2

While I agree that there's so many details to look at on Main St, you could do this same thing on your way out at the end of the night.

Also I don't pack to go home with same items in same bags. I tend to separate by clean vs. dirty when going home.

The first thing I thought of regards our grocery order. I didn't think to order nearly enough fruit and veggies. We don't eat super healthy by any means, but Disney restaurants seem to emphasize the meat and potatoes almost exclusively. Usually I love super sweet snacks, but by the fifth day of our trip, I actually bought a cup of cut pineapple (and passed up my usual pineapple upside down cake with ice cream) at Harambe Fruit Market. I also forgot to ride Test Track, which I meant to ride because it was a new "edition".

In cade you haven't thought of it, you may want to pack lip balm, Pepto Bismol, pain relief medication. First Aid has some things available if you're in the park.

If you're prone to blisters or think you may get them bring some stuff for that. You can easily get that at Walmart while you're down there if you have a car but if not bring some with you in a bag you'll be bringing in the park. Try and switch shoes if you can so you don't wear the same shoe day in and day out.

Portable chargers for your phones (bring those in the park). A DISer friend uses Fuel Rods which can be purchased at the park but was frequently going to a machine to swap it out so they didn't have the most capacity. But if you're just wanting something for just WDW you can purchase at the parks. We always have portable chargers when we travel and so we just bring those.

My best advice is to take care of your body, starting with beforehand. Start a probiotic now if you haven't already, make sure you're taking vitamins, drinking plenty of water, rest up, and eating fruits and veggies. Do your best to maintain while you're there (I know, I know, lol). It just really stinks getting sick while on vacation.

Also take care of your feet. If this is your first time (yay!) it's hard to understand the amount of walking that you'll do. Bring two pairs of shoes to rotate wearing, that was a regret from my first time. I also really like bringing a roll of tearable waterproof bandage. It's great for cuts and blisters, but also all sorts of other stuff like covering up a scratchy tag on a new shirt.

No disrespect meant but I wouldn't do this most especially for a trip to WDW. If you aren't doing these already you have no idea how your body will handle them.

I still remember when I foolishly, without medical advice, thought "oh I'll do women's one a day vitamins" and then got horrible severe stomach pain. Turns out it's a common side effect on the iron content of it and if you already consume enough iron in your diet it can do more harm than good. There are people who consume too much vitamins for their body and it has negative health consequences when doing so something of which in the U.S. we have a problem with taking supplements without the advice or direction of our doctors.

On a probiotic that's messing with your gut and it's not the time to test out how your body handles it between possible bloating, gas and upset stomach. Even 2 weeks out.

Plus you don't know a person's medical situation so recommending something like this IMO while I'm sure you're thinking well it's just not something I would recommend doing. It may be necessary for you but completely unnecessary for someone else to do it (or they may be taking stuff already based on their personal health). It's also overkill IMO for a trip to WDW .
