We ate dinner there last year and I got the meatloaf type meal and did not care for it. I was trying to talk DH in to going to 1900 PF this year for our princess meal but he thinks we should stick w/ Norway as DD liked seeing all the princesses.
Can anyone suggest a menu item that may be better? I am not a very picky eater although I am allergic to seafood. I just found the dish I got to be rubbery.

I liked the dinner buffet at 1900 Park Fare. The Step Sisters are very funny.

I'm going to try the breakfast at Akershus this time. I'm a picky eater so I find breakfast to be the best at certain places.

Maybe you could try the breakfast, we had the princess breakfast a few years ago and the food was GREAT, especially the hash brown type of breakfast potatoes that they have there, they were delicious.

I honestly don't remember what we ate...pickles and lox of some sort...maybe a beet....but I do remember the princesses...and how much my children loved spending time with them...its about the moment...the smile and the memory.... so if you cant get into Cindy's castle , Aurora, although the menu is different...she has some pretty cool friends!

We went for breakfast and it was awesome -- family style eggs, sausage, potatoes (kind of like hash browns but with potatoes cut in wedges), and a buffet bar with fruit, also pastries. I also heard on here that you could special order pancakes but we did not know to try that when we went!

We also love breakfast - but I'm hoping you get more replies about dinner. We may want to try dinner sometime.

We will also be doing dinner and was hoping for some suggestions on what to try other than the meatloaf platter! Is the Fish good there, of the lamb?

I would also vote for breakfast but dinner can be ok too.

I think the starter buffet is great, fruit, salad, lox and salami.

Main course if you like fish my DH raved about the fish with shellfish. Looked really good. I had the swedish meatballs and they really weren't anything special at all.

I suggest the roast chicken if you are going for dinner at Akershus. I had this last year for lunch, but I noticed it has been moved to the dinner menu. It was soooo good! We also did 1900 Park Fare and thought the food and even desserts were yuk. The only thing I really liked was the mashed potatoes--that's sad. DD ate three plates of corn. I just liked the overall whole experience at Akershus better.

When we went in January, I had a smoked bbq pork sandwich (I don't remember what it was called) with a cucumber salad and it was wonderful! I savored every bite! My husband had the traditional K........ (once again, don't remember the name), which was like meatloaf, and he said that his was very good. I also really enjoy the different varieties of herring and salmon on the cold buffet. Akershus is one of our favorite restaurants!

Does anyone know if you can get the BBQ pork sandwich for Dinner, it just looks like it's on the Lunch menu. That sounds like maybe the best option, or at least pretty safe.

Well, if you are allergic to seafood it may not help you but may help your DH or others. My DH had the salmon at Aherhaus and felt it was the best meal of our trip. I don't eat anything that came out of water but he still talks about how good it was. He also had salmon at Cali Grill and said the salmon at Akerhaus was 100% better.

Do you still get the photos?? Is it like CRT where you get one photo per 4 people (we have a party of 7)?

It seems like a good deal if you get a photo AND it's only 1 TS credit.

We've been there for dinner quite a few times and I've always ordered the Salmon. It's fine. We love the appetizer buffet, we eat a lot of the smoked salmon and salads. My children (9 and 4) can just eat the smoked salmon all day if they could.

My husband order the Bacon wrapped cod and didn't care for it. He usually just orders the Salmon or the Pasta. He isn't too thrilled with the food either, but we go for my 4 year old daughter who absolutely adores Princesses.:)

Yes you do still get the photo package. It's with the Princess in the front.

However, I am not sure if you get more than one package if there is more people in your party. Sorry.

IMO, I think they have the princess meals there b/c most people wouldn't choose to eat there otherwise.

Most people who go there for the princesses probably wouldn't have eaten at Akershus in the pre-princess days. Those of us who did and enjoyed it are staying away from the place because of the removal of the full smorgasbord and the exorbitant prices. I miss the old Akershus. :(

I'm another vote for the salmon, although I had them put the sauce on the side. It was delicious and cooked very well.

I had salmon too as did my oldest son-- which does not help as you are allergic to seafood! IT was awesome as previous posters have said!

Sadly I cannot remember what DH had and my youngest had the kids' pizza even though he is too old for the kids' menu.
I like the food a lot here, but I love seafood. I am not sure if we would go back again as my kids are male and now 19 and 16. I think they were mortified I took them to a princess meal-- but when we had eaten there in 2001, it was not a princess meal!

I guess we need to go back soon because I cannot remember what everyone ate!!

Debi:)
